Interview conducted with bassist Dan Garbauskas.

1. How did the band come about?

Well, me Josh and Anthony have been best friends for 6 years or so, and have been playing together under various band names for a couple years, it was never really serious, we just played out in our hometown which at the time was North Port, FL. We experienced all the line up changes and drama that most young bands endure. Me, Josh and Anthony have always been a constant, however, Jeff played with us for a few months, Then the band took a hiatus. We met Dave in Orlando, and jeff rejoined the band in February, we changed the name from "The Reunion" to "Sound We Sleep" and haven't looked back since.

2. When can we expect a release date on the EP? What songs will be on it?

Its tentative at this point. We want to hit the studio ASAP, however, we've had some record labels contact us, were waiting to see where that goes before we set a date for studio time. As for songs, we may remix the two we've already done, as well as a few new ones we've been working on for the past couple weeks.

3. You guys hooked up with the producers of Agraceful and VersaEmerge, how did that relationship come about?

Well we heard some of the bands they've worked with, and heard how great the quality was for the price. Plus Starlight Studios is 5 minutes from where we live, so everything worked out real well. Brock and Evan have awesome resumes, and are awesome dudes, we actually still talk to them a few times a week, they've helped us out with everything from finding management to contacting labels for us. We love those dudes, and can't wait to go back to them.

4. What are some of your influences?

Life. It may sound generic but we take influence from life in general, the past, the present, the future. As far as bands go there's a ton of them, we each take influence from a ton of different bands.

5. For a band that just came together this year, what has been a highlight in the bands young career thus far?

The learning experience. We've been together for about six months, and have had the chance to play shows across Florida, with awesome bands like A Skylit Drive, Before Their Eyes, Lovehatehero, Four Letter Lie, & Farewell, just to name a few. We've also had the opportunity to play some of our favorite venues throughout the state. Playing out with signed bands who tour and play music for a living really puts the music business into perspective for us, we take in a lot from playing & hanging out with these awesome bands. Being the young band that we are, we're always full of questions, and the touring bands are always very helpful and friendly with their advice.

6. What's your thoughts on illegal music downloading?

I've personally spoken with bands about illegally downloading their music, and they have the exact same response that I have. They don't care, as long as their music is reaching people. Purchasing CD's is almost becoming a thing of the past, the internet has basically taken over. I feel that if you can find a way to get our songs for free, by all means do so.

7. What is your favorite song to play live and why?

What Dreams May Come is my favorite so far, but were progressing so fast that some of our newest songs will fastly become my favorite(s). I anything high energy, songs that really make you wanna get into it.

8. What are you guys currently listening to?

I'm currently rockin' August Burns Red. The band collectively enjoys the music from Anberlin, Armor For Sleep, Saosin, Just Surrender, Mayday Parade, and Paramore, just to name a few.

9. What's next for Sound We Sleep?

An EP Release for sure, then Tour Tour Tour! We're stacking our cash and hitting the road ASAP.

10. Any shoutouts?

All the hometown friends and family who support what we do. Our producers/friends Brock and Evan with Starlight studios, Our bro's in Lower Definition, Ice Nine Kills, Before Their Eyes. Any band that we've shared the stage with. Last but not least, anyone who has ever listened to us, wrote to us, talked to us, or anything, we love you all.
