1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Silent Sorcerer” and is there any meaning behind it?

Each member of the band obviously comes from a different background on how they got into music and more specifically metal. However the band started when brothers Jaden, Kelton, and Cousin Garrett, started listening to some heavy tunes and hanging out together near the end of 2010. In the winter of 2011 they were asked to be in a band and accepted the offer and played two shows with the band and decided to start their own band. So in the fall of 2011 after a number of singers came over to try out for the band they found the current vocalist Scott. From there they created a band called N3roid and played two or three shows under that name however with some more members being added the band again decided to change their name which turned into their previous name Subliminal Seven. They stuck with this name from about winter of 2012 until spring of 2013. Then from there the band had to get rid of two of its members because they were pretty much trying to take over the band and so we changed our name to the current and official one that won’t be changed again Silent Sorcerer. Our sound comes from the many influences of our guitar player Jaden who’s influences include guitarists from Iron Maiden, Lamb of God, Children of Bodom Megadeth, Insomnium, Kamelot, John 5, and many others. This with a mixture of intense keys, fast drums, and demonic vocals is why one Silent Sorcerer song sounds completely different from the next. Silent Sorcerer doesn’t have a particular meaning behind it however there is a cool theatrical sense behind it Scott our vocalist is the Sorcerer and we are his undead ghouls he has control over us as it seems at a live show and our live audience since they are alive are called “Breathers”.

2. What do you want listeners to take away from the "Shadows" single?

What we want listeners to take away from “Shadows” is that we feel like everybody has a dark side and it is common for it to be looked at as a bad thing. “I used to dwell on the past, think the thoughts I had were bad and let my anger/sadness about everything hold me back. When I finally took the time to understand that things happen and it is ok to not be ok with that. I was able to use that anger to get motivated and use the sorrow to focus on how to get better.” So this song is more accepting of that dark side.

3. How would you describe your music to the average listener?

How we would describe our music to the average listener is simple…. Every song is different….Creepy goes crazy!!!

4. What can people expect from your live show? What are your favorite songs to play live?

What you can expect from a Silent Sorcerer show is high energy, crowd participation, theatrics and if people get creeped out good! Our favorite songs to play live are Pathway, Shadows, Songs of Revolution, Alone, and Death Roll.

5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Three bands we would be thrilled to tour with are Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, and Slayer. (plus many others of course)

6. Any crazy show stories?

Crazy show stories! Once we played at a place and the stage wasn’t put together very well and during our set it broke and our vocalist fell off the stage and our guitarist fell through the stage. Another is one show we got the crowd going so nuts that two dudes started doing pushups in the middle of the crowd after a crazy mosh pit we didn’t understand what was going on but everyone looked to be having a good time.

7. What’s your take on the current state of metal?

Current state of metal? Metal is for everyone in every country across the world metal is back and here to stay, it gets the biggest turnouts at festivals worldwide and is easy to get into because of all the sub genres.

8. What’s the current music scene like there in Utah both locally and state wide?

Here in Utah there are a lot of Indie bands and it is really popular around the state so we are kind of trying to wake up the dead with some fresh metal.

9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

Legal/ Illegal downloading. If you are gonna take it for free share it with all your friends.

10. What’s next for Silent Sorcerer?

What’s next for us? We are playing a show with the band “From Hell” in Boise Idaho they are a band with ex members from Slayer, Death Angel and Testament. Then Later next year we will be releasing our first full length album that we will record in Columbus Ohio.
