From: Houma, LA
Sounds like: Progressive/ Emo Rock

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “The Skyway” and is there any meaning behind it?

Although the band technically began in August of 2014, there was a long history of it trying to be something since 2009. Back in 2006ish, our drummer Brad and our guitarist Ben were in a band called Death To Juliet. Long story short, the band had split ways due to personal issues, so Ben and brad branched off and had started the foundation for what would be this band. The band name actually comes from a line in a back to the future movie haha."THE SKYWAY IS JAMMED."The bands pretty hard up about movies.

2. What do you want listeners to take away from your upcoming "Flux Capacitor" EP?

There isn't really any direct vibe were trying to send with this EP. We find that it's better to let people take what they want from it whether it's sad, happy, uplifting or lame. As long as it's something right?

3. What can you tell us about the making of the EP? Who produced and mastered it? Who did the design work?

We're actually hoping that a documentary will be released later on with all the footage we have from studio sessions. A good friend of ours Kyle Eroche, actually recorded, mixed, and mastered it. We pretty much produced everything ourselves. If you wanna look up his Facebook page it's called KEE Recordings.

4. What can people expect from your live show?

Well, hopefully they'll be having as much fun as I'll be having jumping around looking like an idiot. You know we can only try our best to make it sound as much like the record as possible, but there's always a different essence I find about hearing a live show. Almost like you're in a different world or something.

5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

I can't really vouch for my fellow band mates, but my personal 3 would be, Circa Survive, The Starting Line and Blink 182.

6. Any crazy show stories?

Let's just say a lot of bad decisions, that were still awesome as fuck. We'll have to share some of those through a video interview one day hahaha.

7. What’s your take on the current state of rock?

It's a very weird situation. Of course with major television programs and the radio, new age rock is pretty much dead. You don't hear many new artist playing on the radio, I remember back in the early 2000s when bands like Taking Back Sunday and All Time Low were actually played on the radio. At the same time, the Internet is becoming more and more preferred over things like radio and television. So I couldn't really give an honest answer. I think music in itself as a career is slowly dying out but that's just me.

8. What’s the current music scene like there in the Louisiana both locally and state wide?

It's pretty dead. Was a lot more active when I was 15 but it's progressively went downhill since 2008.

9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

It's a mixed emotion, like as of right now, I don't care if someone buys it or steals it. If it's that important to them then that's awesome. On the other hand it's not like I have a career musically, and I can completely understand bands who feel cheated out of their music especially when they've made it their lives. I have yet to see one band that breaks up and doesn't have a reunion tour. Once you're in it, it's hard to really put yourself out of the music world. At least it would be for me anyway.

10. What’s next for The Skyway?

Our hopes are as big as any other band. We wanna be able to make this our career. Current plans for this year is just to get this cd out. Start playing shows down here again, and keep up the online promotion. Just spreading our music to anyone who can hear it.

11. Any shoutouts?

Our moms, Kyle Eroche, Mike Chassion, Jakob Johnson, and all you future fans ;) Also shoutout to Jordan Scott LMAO.
