Sounds like: Metal

Continuum have quite the arsenal behind them. The Connecticut based Metal band features seasoned veterans in their lineup including the likes of Darrin of Kayotik as well as the vocal stylings of Brenda St Amant to name a few. Let's dive in and see how hard their 2016 "Civil Lividity" EP hits. "Origins Of Hate" opens up the EP with a chant before blasting a Thrash like sound. There's a Black Dahlia Murder influence on the track as it shreds along at a breakneck pace. There's a sprinkling of clean melody and a kick ass guitar solo on the track which helps transcend it to an even higher level. It's a powerful opener and really sets the tone for the brutality that's about to come. "Dogs Of War" has shades of melodic Death Metal to it. The track is unrelenting and really puts the riffs in the forefront. The headbanging and circle pit appeal of the track is off the charts. "Civil Lividity" blows the doors off with a schizophrenic Metal sound that incorporates clean melodies, blasting drums and guitars that perfectly captures the insanity that is the Continuum signature sound. "Faith Absolves" is a smidge slower than the previous tracks but it still packs quite the punch. The more sludge Metal type sound mixed with melodic Thrash gives it that extra boost that makes it stand out. The guitar solos and melodies on the track are truly top notch. The closer "Born To Give" is probably more traditional Melodic Metal than the previous tracks. The breakdowns and pacing on the track are awesome. Continuum aren't messing around when they say that they bring something new to the table of Metal genre. Do yoursef a favor and pick up this release if you're looking for something new and incredible in the Metal realm.

Verdict:
Continuum's newest EP has what it takes to go toe to toe with the heavyweights of the Metal genre.
