Between The Rain

Between The Rain (Hard Rock) - New York, New York

Between The Rain is a hard rock trio originally out of New York City. Initially a name and idea on paper, Tim Donlon, a musician bent on finding the perfect lineup, traveled the East Coast settling in New York in pursuit of like-minded artists. Following an arduous 3 year search he happened upon bassist Victoria Rothman. 3 years after that, Victoria found Xavier Martinez, a talented drummer seeking out an ambitious and promising rock band. Together they developed a new approach to the chaotic and haunting shades of rock n’roll.

Upcoming Shows:

-Interview- (5/8/17)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Between The Rain” and is there any meaning behind it?

We all have very different musical origins but, coming together we just hashed out dirty rock songs until they had some nuance and personality. Tim came up with the name "Between The Rain." Its from the movie JFK, in reference to someone thinking they're above the law.

2. What do you want listeners to take away from your "Mudroom" single?

A fun, rambunctious Rock song.

3. What can people expect from your live show?

An energetic and melodic experience with a diverse set of influences.

4. What's your favorite track to play live?

Victoria likes to pump up the crowd with "Mudroom," Xavier likes to throw a wrench in the set with "Lay In Ruin" and Tim likes "SwampCitySaltmines" because of its odd changes.

5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Chevelle, Puppy, and we'd have loved to play with STP when Scott was at the helm.

6. Any crazy show stories?

Our stories so far are pretty tame. One time, Xavier vomited seconds before a show and went on to play a full set.

7. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?

Our take on the current Rock scene is that it's sporadic. It's a lot easier to come across solid Metal and Hardcore scenes. We feel emboldened to be an instrumental part of a new rock upheaval.

8. What’s the current music scene like there in New York both locally and state wide?

There's not just one local scene as we see it. A fatal flaw these days is that scenes don't tend to come together. It's all very competitive.

9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

Music should be free. A lot of major labels tend to mistreat their artists. There'd be no reason to get upset about " illegal downloading" if artists were compensated fairly.

10. What’s next for Between The Rain?

Recording another EP and some Summer shows on the horizon.

11. Any shoutouts?

What's up D.C.?! We'll be in your area soon!
