As a quaint alternative rock band from Adelaide, we as Quaint Attraction have been busy writing, playing and performing the music we love. We don't know what's in store for the future, all we want to do is get people dancing and loving the music as much as we do.

The release of our debut EP "Made It On Your Own" has been a true turning point for the band. Having put over 15 months worth of work into self recording and producing this release we couldn't be prouder of the result, which has finally given us a chance to get our sound out to the world.

"Made It On Your Own" EP Review
Quaint Attraction is a Rock band from Australia that released this five track EP back over the Summer. The entire EP was self recorded and self produced by the band. "Make Your Move" opens things up by way of some fantastic guitar riffs and melody that digs deep and helps set the emotional tone early. The guitar solo on the track is very soulful and adds another dimension to the already rockin' good time. "Don't Go Home" draws in shades of the White Stripes. There's a dance like quality to the track that is sure to draw in people. There's a build up later in the track that results in a blast of guitar work. The track has a few different layers to it which makes it a stand out track. "Stand Up, Don't Stand By" is bouncy number with a nice little riff before exploding into the highly infectious chorus. The track brings to mind Incubus with its melody. "Made It On Your Own" takes the listener on a passionate journey through a gentle soft side of the band. The track is a great example of how deep the band can go with their signature sound. "There's No Trouble In Paradise, Tayla" is an acoustic bonus track. While the EP ends of a softer, more delicate side of the band, it shows the awesome range that they have. Keep an eye out for Quaint Attraction and if you like your Rock music to have depth and heart then check them out right away.

Verdict:
Quaint Attraction have no trouble showcasing their signature sound in their newest EP.

-Interview- (2/13/17)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Quaint Attraction” and is there any meaning behind it?

We all started with music at different points in our lives, but the common link is we all met on a classifieds website called Gumtree. We all bring very different influences to the table which is what helps us shape our sound, and create a unique mix of elements. Which brings us quite nicely to the name actually. Something quaint is something that is charming or attractive in its own unique and different way, so in a way the name sort of describes us and sums up what we do.

2. What do you want listeners to take away from the "Made It On Your Own" EP?

"Made It On Your Own" is really an exploration of ourselves as musicians, as we recorded and produced the entire EP ourselves. It might not be that perfect commercial studio record, but it is raw and honest. Every song on the record tells a story of real-life experiences, and we really hope that people can identify with these reflect on similar experiences in their own lives.

3. What can people expect from your live show?

What really makes our shows different is the personal connection that we share with the crowd. It's incredible to think that people want to come out and listen to these songs that mean so much to us, so we do everything we can to make our friends and fans feel like part of the show as well. Without them we wouldn't be able to do what we love, so we always make it a real party for them to enjoy.

4. What's your favorite track to play live?

We do a bit of a mash up of "Back in Black" and "Wonderwall" which always goes down well in a live setting. Seeing people dancing and singing back to us is just about as good as it gets.

5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

We're gonna look at a few different scenarios here. If we are looking at something as big as dreams could be then being on tour with someone like the Chili Peppers would be an incredible experience. Sticking within Australia it would have to be The Living End, a group of absolute geniuses who put on a great live show and that we would really be able to learn a lot from. Lastly we would never miss the opportunity to hit the road with some local legends who would turn the road trip into a massive party. We have plenty of mate's bands that would fit this bill, but New Age Notion come to mind as a group that would give us a good laugh and a bit of banter on the road.

6. Any crazy show stories?

We do everything we can to try and be organised and avoid surprises, but you'll never stop everything. We once played at a private function with a rather expansive food and drink package. Towards the end of the night there were a few people asking if they could play drums with us, and trying to get people they knew to do it as well. Before we know it we're playing a few cover songs with people we've never met. It went surprisingly well!!!

7. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?

There are plenty of people out there that are happy to throw shade and drop comments like "rock is dead" or "things just aren't rock and roll any more". As far as we are concerned though, rock is just evolving into new and unexplored ground every day. As incredible as some of the rock bands from the 70s and 80s were (and still are), the world of music changes every day to bring you something new, and it's that development of rock that we find super exciting.

8. What’s the current music scene like there in Australia both locally and country wide?

There's a lot of influence in Australia from the UK and American music scenes, but there is so much depth in Australian talent to explore as well. Go looking and you're guaranteed to find a wicked band that will blow your mind, no matter what your taste in music might be. We've been lucky enough to play with some of the most talented acts around Adelaide that will easily sell out venues, so the local scene is well and truly thriving as well.

9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

A lot of money, time, and your own hard work and dedication goes into producing a record, and obviously artists should be compensated for this, but again the music world is constantly changing and evolving. We make our music to share, and so if that means punters get it for free at least we know we are reaching new people. Then when people head out to our shows, check out our merch and wear it with pride that when we really get our compensation which helps us fund our endeavours.

10. What’s next for Quaint Attraction?

Having released and played a number of shows for our debut EP, we are taking a bit if a break from the stage to work on some new tunes and explore some new ideas. We're not 100% sure where this will take us, but we would love to spend a bit of time in the studio to record and release something new and exciting. We are also super keen to hit the road and play in a few places around the country and meet some fans from outside our hometown!

11. Any shoutouts?

Our drummer Adam is renowned for shout outs whenever we do radio interviews, so we've had to keep him under wraps here! Definitely want to throw a massive shout out to Jake from The Liberty Agency, who has been absolutely instrumental in our growth over the past 12 months. He's put us on the biggest shows we have ever played, which has not only been a valuable opportunity, but bloody great fun as well.
