Ashe Madness

Ashe Madness (Thrash Metal) - Maine

Forming in 2021,we are a 3 piece Metal band from Brunswick, Me. We have always known each other, from playing in local bands in the Maine music scene over the years. Had opportunities to share stages with lots of local, regional and national bands. Even been in some bands together along the way. Long story short, we've come full circle with this madness and we're back together having fun, creating some metal we love to play. Right now, we have plans to keep writing and releasing new tunes. we even have a few gigs lined up already for 2023.

-Interview- (1/14/23)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name "Ashe Madness" and is there any meaning behind it?

Well, Me and my good friend, Marco Gosselin, started this whole idea as a project back around the end of 2019, jammed around, joked around asking each other if we really wanted to awaken this madness again, lol. Anyways wrote a few songs, couple tunes, Testimony Untold and Segregation was all that we got recorded. Shortly after that, we incorporated Matt Nace on Guitar and sure enough he was the missing link. As far the band name, Me and Marco had a few ideas brewing before hand, and then I was like, why don't we call it Ashe Madness, so we took my last name, Ashe and Marco has a tattoo business here in Brunswick, Me. called Marco's Madness. We pondered the idea for a couple weeks, and we just liked the way it sounded rolling off the tongue. At this point we needed a project name. Few weeks later, Once Matt Nace joined he was all cool with it, so it just stuck.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

Talking the 21+ crowd, Hopefully they like what they hear and we keep em coming back for more, if it's the younger crowd, maybe we can be an inspiration in their lives one day.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

We seem to have a metal, thrash metal, with a taste of hard rock, we're kinda still developing some things as we write. We all have many greats that have inspired us.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

There are a few, I'll start with, Exodus, Obituary and Spite.

5. How has Covid affected what you do?

In a way, made us concentrate more on just writing more material, because gig wise, it really hit hard, especially for the Maine music scene, with a few places closing down, not to many places in Maine that let you play metal. Everything was just challenging. Couple of us actually got sick from the virus when it first came out, not fun at all!

6. What’s your take on the current state of Thrash Metal?

Lots of great metal bands out there. Wish more of the old school type would come back, ya know back when there were actual solos incorporated into the music, but at the same time we dig what's going on, regardless, there is plenty of talent out there for sure!

7. What's the current music scene like there in Maine?

There are a few areas that are thriving pretty good. Not like it use to be though but it does seem like it's picked up a little since covid hit in 2020, which I hope we never have to relive again.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

Well this is a hot topic. In our opinion, corporate greed has really just taken over. Being a small time band like us, we will never make any real money from it. We still believe in the old school way for the most part of selling cds, promoting as much as we can by word of mouth. These days you really have to hustle if you are trying to make any money at it.

9. What’s next for Ashe Madness?

We are just gonna keep developing our sound as we move forward, writing and releasing as much professional recorded material as possible, hopefully keep building up our following as we play shows.
