Aventurine

Aventurine (Metal) - United Kingdom

Aventurine was formed in 2017 by singer Kamila Lankiewicz and guitarist/producer Piotr Borkowski. In the beginning the duo concentrated on recording rock and metal covers of well known songs. In February 2020 hungarian drummer Csaba N. Vódli joined the band. In summer guitarist Kanah Groves and bassist Paweł Borkowski finished the lineup. In January 2021 Aventurine released its debut self produced EP called Termagant consisting of energetic 6 songs. Unfortunately in June 2021 Kanah decided to leave the band. Band’s music includes elements of doom, djent, symphonic, melodic death metal, electronic music as well as slavic Eastern European folk. All packed in metal modern production with strong clean and distorted female vocals full of poetic lyrics that add to unique Aventurine sound.

-Interview- (3/1/22)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name "Aventurine" and is there any meaning behind it?

All of us have been very much into music for a long time. We each had our projects in the past so when we got together it certainly gave us a massive pool of different ideas to explore. Metal in itself has very much to offer and each one of us loves different parts of it. Just like with any group endeavour we each put in what we like. What can we say, it’s a concoction of all different things but we like to think there are elements for every metal fan to enjoy.

Band’s name is somewhat less of a mix as Aventurine is Kamila’s (our singer) favourite stone so credits to band’s name will go to her. It’s a quartz crystal believed by many to bring good luck. Green Aventurine stone is known as "stone of opportunity", considered by some to be the luckiest of all crystals, especially in manifesting prosperity and wealth, for increasing favour in competitions or games of chance. Gets its name from Italian word "Aventura" - by chance, risk or luck

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

Good energy for sure. We hope people connect with our lyrics and stories we portrait by them.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

It’s a combination of punchy, gritty, heavy riffs with melodic parts. Dynamic and with an edge, cool synths from time to time. You can find there aggressive metal parts as well as delicate ghostly moments.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Definitely Lacuna Coil, Amorphis and Insomnium.

5. How has Covid affected what you do as a band?

We were quite fortunate to be honest, none of us were ever seriously ill and with extra time at home we had the opportunity to focus on songwriting and recording. That’s how our EP Termagant came to life. We only really got together with the squad we have shortly prior to the pandemic so were not performing live at that point. With all modern gear one can record and easily share ideas and combine them together these days, so such pandemic would have affect us way more if we were playing ten years ago.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?

It’s still alive and kicking. Many new and old artists continue to produce awesome material. You can’t expect metal to become mainstream but that doesn’t mean it’s dead. We hope to see much more metal gigs out there as the pandemic measures lessen.

7. What’s the current music scene like locally there in the UK?

It’s hard to say as the effects that pandemic had on local venues is still very much felt. It’s definitely more difficult to find venues to play in, especially as a metal band.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

It’s too early to say. At this stage we are happy for our music to be easily reached and shared. We would much rather have exposure than any gains at the moment.

9. What’s next for Aventurine?

Hopefully lots of local gigs! We are working on our first full album and progress is good. We plan to release a new single called “Scars” very soon.

10. Any shoutouts?

Definitely all of our families and friends as well as all the people who love our music and support us!
