"Hunter" Single Review
The new single from California rockers Coat Check Girl is out and if you're a fan of Rock music, you need to listen to this right now. The track kicks off with some high tempo before breaking into a very Portugal The Man type sound. The chorus comes in quick and immediately gets stuck in your head. The track keeps its Indie Rock vibe going strong with its verses and doesn't hold back from letting its catchy chorus run wild. The bridge is a nice little break from the action with a diverse sound that helps build itself back up before erupting with the infectious chorus to close things out. Coat Check Girl keep releasing high quality Rock tunes and you'd be doing yourself a huge favor in getting on the CCG bandwagon sooner rather than later.

Coat Check Girl does it again in creating a single that transcends Rock music.

"Twenty Nine" Single Review
Coat Check Girl are an up and coming Rock band from Los Angeles, CA. Their newest single "Twenty Nine" was just released today so let's not waste any time in our new review of it. The single starts off with a nice groovy riff alongside some melodic catchy vocals which quickly pick up steam. The funky riffs keep things chugging along before climbing into the ultra catchy chorus. The second verse kicks in and the listener is already hooked. There's a slight Portugal The Man vibe to the track. The bridge of the track comes in as it dips down with some nice drum work before exploding back up into the head bobbing, easy to sing to chorus to close things out. Everything about this single is incredible and should be infecting eardrums everywhere.

Coat Check Girl's newest single "Twenty Nine" is Rock radio gold.

-Interview- (4/25/18)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Coat Check Girl" and is there any meaning behind it?

The band started as the lead singer's senior thesis for college. He went to the Art Institute of Los Angeles and majored in music production. For his final thesis, Andre, the lead singer, decided to start his own band and record a 5 song EP. 1 of these 5 songs became the second music video the band would release, titled Yellow Blue Red. The name Coat Check Girl comes from the TV show "How I Met Your Mother", Andre is a big fan of the show, so in one of the episodes, (1st Season, 5th Episode) they make reference to a Coat Check Girl who worked at this crappy and loud disco. Andre thought the name was very suitable for a band.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

Since we're a new band, it varies. People seem to like the juxtaposition between the melancholy lyrics and the up-beat music.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Coat Check Girl is basically My Chemical romance meets Imagine Dragons.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Twenty One Pilots, Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy

5. What are your three desert island albums that you'd never get tired of listening to?

Vessel - Twenty One Pilots, Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge - My Chemical Romance, ...And Justice For All - Metallica

6. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?

A lot of people complain and say that Rock is dead, but to us rock just evolves into different shapes and colors. Just because it's not loud distorted guitars all the time, doesn't mean that the essence is dead.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in California both locally and state wide?

In Los Angeles, the music scene is alive and well. Every night there's multiple shows happening all around the city, and state wide, I believe that more people in California are music fans than in other major cities we've visited.

8. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

Music shouldn't be downloaded illegally. It's art, but at the same time is a business. You don't walk into a grocery store, grab a bunch of sodas and candy and leave without paying. - Or at least you shouldn't -. Specially nowadays that we have awesome services like Spotify, Apple Music, and Tidal, that allow you to listen to an almost infinite catalog of records by paying the price of 1 album a month.

9. What’s next for Coat Check Girl?

Shows, shows and more shows. At the moment the band has a plan to release one song a month starting April 27th when they'll release "Twenty Nine" their new upcoming single. And after that, every month there will be a new song and new shows.

10. Any shoutouts?

Yes, we have a lot of people to thank, the awesome people from Owly.Fm, ESP Guitars, Megan Holiday, Michael LoBiondo, Beatriz Bustamante, Ruben Castro, the band Romance & Rebellion and more.
