Kthona

Kthona (Nu Metal) - Ukraine

As Chasing Embers, the band released their first single Silent House on 22 October 2018. The song was well received and was picked by Spotify editorial playlist New Blood, while the music video for this single has got more than 60 000 views on YouTube. During the recording of their first album, band’s singer Julie Tallina has also featured on two songs in official HIM World Tribute compilation. After releasing their first full-length album Beckoning Call, the band went on Ukrainian tour and was eventually nominated for a Best Ukrainian Metal Act in winter 2019.

During COVID-19 pandemic the band members of Chasing Embers decided to start over and changed the name to Kthona. The reason was that the original concept of the band didn't work well with the new material they began to write shortly after the release of the debut album. Besides new music styles (Nu Metal with elements of Rap, Trap and Industrial), Kthona changed their approach to releasing their music. Instead of recording a new full length album in the studio, the band members started to record and mix their songs themselves, as well as the music videos which are also filmed and edited by the band members.

"Godspeller" Single Review
The track begins with swirling riffs to get the party started. The melodic vocals kick in to get the first verse gliding along. The buildup to the chorus picks up the pace and the eventual chorus blasts through with an almost Southern Rock style. The second verse hits a higher gear with its Nu Metal like style. The Flybanger like style is evident as the chorus soars at the 2:15 mark until the bridge hits around the 2:45 mark. The bridge dips down and back up quickly until the chorus erupts back in to close things out.

Verdict:
Kthona unleash their Nu Metal fury via their newest single.
