"Reminiscer" EP Review
The opener "Growing Different" takes a bit to get going but once it finds its footing, it's a glorious romp. The soaring vocals are in the front as the bouncing riffs swirl around to create a more modern Warped Tour sound. "Reflections" is a touch faster paced in its delivery than the opener. The track blazes a Pop Punk catchy path forward within its two and a half minute span. "Sleeping In" feels like a continuation of the previous track. While the instrumentation are more on the higher tempo side, the vocals take more of a steadier range. The single "Rooftops" rounds out the EP with its high energy. The track will surely get the live crowd moving and singing in no time. The dynamic elements pop with confidence. With only four tracks, the EP shines with bright potential for the band.

Verdict:
No Take Backs shine bright with their new EP.

-Interview- (6/30/23)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name "No Take Backs" and is there any meaning behind it?

No Take Backs first started as an idea of vocalist/guitarist Tyler Dibble, building off remnants of his previous band BrighterDays. The sound developed from a love of Emo, Pop Punk, and Easycore as well as a love of poetry. The name No Take Backs comes from a quick little saying me and my friends would often use as a joke during certain social situations. The meaning of No Take Backs to us means to only look forwards and there is no taking back past mistakes, but also a reminder to do things in our lives with absolute conviction.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

The main thing we want people to take away from our music is to just know they aren’t alone in the things they deal with in the everyday struggles of their lives.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

We would describe our sound by saying it's Emo Pop Punk. Brighter, powerful, and poetic.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Knuckle Puck, Hot Mulligan, and Neck Deep.

5. How has Covid affected what you do?

No Take Backs started during Covid with a different line up, released some songs and didn’t get to do much else then broke up briefly while Tyler kept writing and recording new music but putting things on hold for two years while he looked for a solid line up.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Pop Punk?

We think the current state of Pop Punk is wonderful. It has come back in full swing with every subgenre. It also seems other bands are even more supportive of each other than before.

7. What's the current music scene like there in Pennsylvania?

The music scene in Pennsylvania is very much alive and kicking. Everyone is super supportive and seems to operate off the idea of each local scene being all inclusive which is really great to see. We notice less gate keeping in Pennsylvania and love that across the state there are different awards for artists to attend each year.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

Streaming services don’t give enough royalties. The small compensation provided to the artists leaves us feeling that streaming is no better than Napster or Limewire at this rate. Music doesn’t belong to the artists anymore, we just make it. But as much as we disapprove we do play the game of tracking numbers and trying to reach a certain amount.

9. What's next for No Take Backs?

Right now were gearing up for summer shows and working on new music following the recent release of our "Reminiscer" EP.

10. Any shoutouts?

We'd like to give a huge shout out to Inculcate Records for believing in us and helping us as a band.
