Panssarituho (Metal) - Finland

Panssarituho was created around 2019. The band began much earlier by Extermus and Invicto while they were drinking and listening to their favorite records, But when Macellarius jumped behind the drums, things started to move forward. Extermus is the band's main writer but Invicto does all bass lines and Macellarius writes drumparts. Lyrics are mainly written by Extermus and Macellarius, with some help by Invicto. We mostly write about war, because we think that it is a very interesting, but cruel and violent subject to write about.

We recorded demos very old school way with very low budget. The new recording "Loputon Teurastus", is way more produced, but it is still uncompromising. There is still no digital improvements in this record and it is mixed and produced by ourselves. So what you hear you will definitely get also in live situations. The songs are a bit more thrashier than the demo songs, but the topics are still the same. We really believe, that the true and authentic music and the way of making it, is way more satisfying than just do everything the same way than everyone else. Never say never, but Panssarituho will always sound raw and brutal!

"Not political, no ideology. Just fucking agressive Metal."

"Loputon Teurastus" Album Review
"Tuleen Kastetut" blasts right in and doesn't hold back. The riffs create a whirwlwind of chaos as the aggressive vocals take center stage. The track teeters on the edge of Thrash and Death Metal variations and leaves carnage in its wake. "Minä olen Kuolema" continues the Metal onslaught. There's a Slipknot like opening that barrels full speed ahead with the more signature sound of the band themselves. The groove heavy track will be quite the stunner for a live crowd. "Loputon teurastus" is fast, heavy and all about rage. The track is a runaway freight train of destruction and pulls out all the stops with its intensity. "Kadonnut" begins with a Hatebreed like build before transitioning into a more downtempo Metal sound for the pacing. The track is a little bit slower than the previous tracks but it still has that heavy edge for sure. "Ikuinen kidutus" is five and a half minutes of pure Metal. It's an awesome track to just enjoy the showcase of the band's true talents. "Pyhä tappaja" will induce some serious circle pits and headbanging. The track is an all out assault on the Metal senses. "Kidutustappaja" mixes things up and creates more of an atmosphere with its opening and overall tone. The track gets quite heavy and goes all out and doesn't lose any momentume in its riffs and extreme vocals. "Kuolema kutsuu kaikkia tänään" wraps up the album nicely and really puts a nice stamp on everything with its natural Metal sound.

Panssarituho take a sledgehammer to the Metal scene with their newest album.

-Interview- (5/18/21)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “ Panssarituho " and is there any meaning behind it?

Invicto and Extremus basically got the idea to form a deth/thrash/black –metal band, that would sound raw and traditional. so Extremus had some songs written and they played those together, but needed a drummer. Both of them knew Macellarius and Extremus had been in the same bands with him, so they asked him to join. Songs were performed in english at first, but it sounded kind of lame, so we decided to switch to finnish. The name of the band came up when we kick around with ideas. We wanted it to be a name that bows a little to thrash metal scene, but is also clerly a death-metal name. War, violence and destruction, what else could death metal band need in their names!

Sound is just what we sound like live. It will develop in time, but the main idea is to sound like a band, not a digital machine.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We hope people get a fist pumping, beer drinking and moshpitting feel from our music. Thats what we get from this. Get drunk and play/listen to good music!

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Our sound is very authentic, violent and distorted. So if you like Sabaton, you might want to stay away.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

It would be a dream come true to tour with Deicide,Cannibal Corpse and Impaled Nazarene. But we hope to make some gigs here in Finland with Psycho Horror and Wömit Angel.

5. How has Covid affected what you do as a band?

Covid shut down all the gigs. But we started to record our new album, so we kind of used the shut down to make something new.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?

Metal is in the state, where there are tons of bands, who sound the same. The musicanship is blown out of the roof and there are millions of more talented musicians than ever. But in the same time bands use so much technology in their albums to sound so perfect that everything is sounding a bit too perfect. Back in the day your favorite bands had distinctive sound, but it has kind of mellowed to one sound, wich every band has to use, if they want to call themselves a death metal band.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in Finland?

There are very vivid music scene in Finland. The quality of the bands is top of the notch. Finland is very heavy orientated country, but the pop scene is taking a bit step back to the front.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

Of course it would be nice to get payed better from your streams. Now you wont get anything unless you are a very big band like Metallica. But in the same time the important thing is to get heard. So there cant be any expectations of getting rich when you start your band.

9. What’s next for Panssarituho?

Now its time to get to the gigs, start rehearsals, write new stuff, make music videos, promote the new album and all that kind of stuff.

10. Any shoutouts?

Support your local deathmetal band!
