1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Venice Revive" come about and is there any meaning to it?
I started learning guitar just so I could play the songs I like, with time I found myself creating good-sounding riffs, from there it developed to full songs. Long story short there's an album out! More will follow of course. During Covid-19's lockdowns, while "normal" cities had no cars on roads, Venice had no Gondolas in its canals - Dolphins were sighted swimming there. I just knew the project's name had to be "Venice Revive" the moment I learned of it.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
I like to listen to music to feel things. Things I can identify with, things that will help me deal with whatever I deal with.. My first album talks about how I dealt with the loss of my father and I hope I help other listeners deal with things like that too. As expected, future releases will explore other subjects.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
A blend of old & new Metalcore, with a great addition of orchestral instruments like the piano, a violin, even a harp!
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
The first that come to mind are Trivium, Bleed from Within & Bullet for My Valentine.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
As I said before, I like to listen to music to feel things. I like to read the lyrics and try to understand what the guitarists were trying to convey through their instruments. Hence, AI generated music isn't really for me. Some people like to listen to music just to enjoy the beat, without using too much brain power, I guess it'd be a nice tool if this was your audience and you didn't really care about the soul of it.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Symphonic Metalcore?
I actually don't know any Symphonic Metalcore bands, that's one of the reasons I chose to combine these two subgenres!
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Israel?
There are some amazing bands here, but limited exposure gets in our way. It's not easy for us like it is for European or American bands to just rent a bus and tour a very large area.. The more shows you go to, the more faces you begin to recognize. I genuinely hope that all of us will get the amount of listeners we deserve some day.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
As an artist, of course I'd think that I'd love to get more money, but did you know that streaming services almost don't generate any profit? I know Universal, for example, demands 63 cents for every dollar earned by Spotify through artists signed by them. That's why one of my current goals is to get signed by someone who'd help me finance new music. I don't want more money to get rich, I want more money to invest into production & promotion.
9. What’s next for Venice Revive?
I'm in the studio, recording some covers that mean a lot to me and adding finishing touches to my next album, all 8 songs are pretty much ready, just trying to refine them and make sure they're perfect. Stay tuned!
