Sounds like: Metal

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “5150” and is there any meaning behind it?

We got our first instruments at age 6 from our uncle but didn't start taking music seriously until our teens. We developed our sound by just being in numerous bands and pulling from every influence and inspiration we could think of. We didn't want to think too hard on coming up with a band name so we settled on 5150 when our guitarist just shout out the idea and we said fuck it let the music make the band name. So 5150 really has no meaning behind it other than it being code for hospitals and law enforcement for an individual who is mentally unstable and is a danger to ones self and others.

2. What do you want people to take away from your 2016 demos? Any word on new music?

We want people to have their own opinion on 5150. Call us whatever you want but know that we are a young group of individuals who are here to create badass music. We are currently writing new material and should have it ready for the new year 2018.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

That's a hard one haha. Ummm I'd probably say fast, groovy, with cool melody. Metal that you can enjoy and not just a bunch of noise.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Metallica, Gojira, Black Sabbath.

5. What are your three desert island albums that you'd never get tired of listening to?

..And Justice For All( Metallica), The Great Southern Trend Kill (Pantera), Led Zeppelin (Led Zeppelin).

6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?

Metal is making it's comeback little by little but I feel there's too many bands doing the same thing. There's hundred of thrash bands. There's hundreds of death metal bands people want a revival of Metal. That's why I think Gojira stands out because they aren't a thrash band or death metal. they found a way to take what they love and make it their own sound.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in California both locally and state wide?

Los Angeles loves metal! We go out and support the scene. It's what keeps it alive. As far as the state wide scene a lot of bands just come to Los Angeles to play so that saves us a trip haha

8. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

It has had a huge impact on artists making a living but i feel it just helps get your music out there faster and spread all over the world so someone in India or China can listen to your music on youtube and you can build a fan base by just using your computer.

9. What’s next for 5150?

Our next move would definitely be to release new music for 2018 and start playing shows across the states and eventually the world.

10. Any shoutouts?

Shout out to our Mom who's supported our dream since day one and anyone in our support system including girlfriends, family and the fans! we appreciate everything you've done for us.
