Sounds like: Hard Rock

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “One Day At A Time" and is there any meaning behind it?

We all started playing music separately as kids and we each had our own style coming in. We just try to get the best of all of that and put it together. Our name was kind of just pulled out of the air when we were getting ready for our first show as a placeholder and it kind of stuck around. Friends told us they liked it so we decided to keep it.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

Our music can be interpreted in different ways. We like people to interpret our music however it speaks to them. Every song has its message but it's how it resonates with the person listening to it that makes each song powerful.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

We usually go Rock/Hard Rock or a modern grunge-esk sound.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Some bands we have been influenced by and would love the opportunity to tour with are Soundgarden, A Day to Remember, Incubus, and The Foo Fighters.

5. What are your three desert island albums that you'd never get tired of listening to?

A Crow Left Of The Murder... by Incubus, Higher Truth - Chris Cornell, and Homesick by A Day to Remember are just a few of our desert island albums.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?

On the not so mainstream level the world of rock is alive and well. There are rock bands everywhere and they come in such variety.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in New York both locally and state wide?

In the city there are definitely a lot of Indie artists and Hip Hop has always been a powerhouse in New York. On Long Island there is a pretty big Metal scene growing but there is still something different around every corner you just have to be willing to find it.

8. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

Online music is evolving daily. Some of us in the band feel music should be free for everyone to enjoy. However, there is a lot of hard work that goes into making original music, so respect for the artist is a big thing. If they choose to release the music for free that's great, but if not then that's something we have to understand and respect.

9. What’s next for One Day At A Time?

We are currently working on getting back in the studio to record our second EP. We are trying to play as much as we possibly can in the meantime. We would also love to tour in the not so distant future.

10. Any shoutouts?

To our fans and friends who come out to every show and support us, we are incredibly grateful for your continued love and support! And to a few of our closest, Stay Salty!
