Sounds like: Progressive Metal

Progressive metal has a wake up call by way of Finland band Sonus Corona's latest album "Sonus Corona". The opener "Invocation" is an atmospheric intro track that builds the tone for the upcoming wall of sound. "Deliverance" digs right in and perfectly demonstrates the sheer brilliance of the band right off the bat. The track weaves in and out of progressive rock and metal heaven throughout its five and a half minute length. "Struggle" keeps the crunchy melodic riffs coming. The track is an uplifting experience and clocking in at a little over four minutes, it has radio play written all over it. "The Window" cranks things up to 11. The influence of Dream Theater can be heard on the track with its whimsical bridges and soundscapes. The next track "T.N.D." takes the pace down a bit. It has more of a hard rock sound and really chugs along quite nicely. "Rise Above" kicks things back up and creates a sound that brings to mind Textures. The track oozes melody and hard hitting progressive riffs. "I want to see you rise above and feed the fire inside your heart" are lyrics from the track that will surely be remembered. "Nexus" is filled with clean sung melodies and some hard rock breakdowns throughout. It's doesn't let up and why should it when it sounds as good as it does. "Lucid Dreaming" takes the listener on a musical journey that is purely instrumental and magnificent. The epic closer "Till The End Of My Days" hits all the right strides and wraps things up on a high note. The overall talent of the band is on full display on this near eight minute opus of a track. The album is a progressive rock/fans dream album and shouldn't be missed.

Verdict:
Sonus Corona have etched themselves in the top tier of the progressive metal genre.
