1. What's new with Suburban Key Party?
We are promoting the album “Broken Mirrors” which is an album of singles released over the past year. I’m currently working on demos - some Suburban Key Party songs and some I plan to release under my name.
2. How does the song writing process go with your band?
I write the structure of the songs and lyrics then bring it to the band to make them sound good.
3. What can you tell us about inspiration for the new music?
Listening to new music inspires me to write and opens a flood gate of ideas. Discovering new music or “new to me” music excites me. It’s like going somewhere you haven’t been before.
4. What have you been listening to lately?
I’m all over the place - Jason Isbell, Gaslight Anthem, the Luka State, Nothing but Thieves and Kid Kapichi are a few of the artists.
5. Do you have any pre-show rituals before performing?
Not really, maybe a bit of Jameson to warm up.
6. What's one thing you'd change about the local music scene?
Ehh, it is what it is. If you write and record music, look beyond your backyard, there’s a big world out there with several avenues to promote your music.
7. What's your favorite show that you've played and why?
Either the Out of the Box show at the Sandler Center or opening for Fighting Gravity at the Norva. I had the jitters at both, good jitters.
8. Any plans for any new music videos?
Always!!
9. What do you wish to accomplish for the rest of the year?
To release more songs in some form or fashion, and maybe play a show or two.
