1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Stealth" come about and is there any meaning to it?
It started with a pint of good beer about 28 years ago. I was sitting in a pub with my bass player Daniele. We were in the same group of friends and we were talking about the idea of forming a Metallica cover band. Then, in a couple of months, I told him: 'Hey man, we are playing in a rock/beer festival next August' He was shocked because there were not any other members a part of us. In some week we recruited a guitarist who was a good friend of mine and Daniele's cousin at the drums. So the 3rd of August 1997 we played our first gig ever. If you listen to our first two EPs it is clear that it was something very close to Thrash Metal while with our first two albums we moved from Hard Rock to Crossover and also a bit of Alternative Metal. In the last 10/15 years we settled for a more specifically Heavy and Industrial kind of sound, and we also released two live albums and one remix. We evolved a lot both in terms of sound and music style but we did it slowly and steadily during the years so the biggest change happened in 25 years and not from one day to the next.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
Our music has several influences and they come together in a unique and modern sound. This is probably what we want people to appreciate most about our music.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
Stealth is a mixture of genres from Heavy Metal to Industrial and Nu Metal. We love experimenting with various metal styles but we also like maintaining a precise standard of sound.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
One of my dreams would be touring with one of the famous bands I was inspired by, like Metallica or Iron Maiden for example. But Fear Factory would also be good to start with.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
It's something that we can't stop. I have personally heard of musicians who have long since started producing music with AI so this will probably be the next challenge for the world of Rock and Metal in the years to come. Creating music using AI with the skills of an instrumentalist
6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?
It's a genre that is almost 50 years old and now needs to know how to renew itself to find new fans ready to welcome it. The crisis of music played with conventional instruments is now long-lasting and we must come to terms with it and know how to deal with it.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Italy?
Most of the venues and bars we used to play until 15 years ago are now closed and it's not so easy to find a slot at festivals that worth the effort. When we started in the 90s you had a lot of venues and festivals where to play but you didn't have a label, a promotion or a distribution to spread the voice. To be honest I preferred how it was back then. The kind of music we play gives its best when you listen at it live.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
All our songs are free streaming on our official website but they can be also played on all major platforms. The music industry has changed during the last 2 decades and there is nothing that we can do. Paid royalties are very low but with a good promotion you can attract a new potential fan to your concert and then maybe sell him/her a CD or t-shirt.
9. What’s next for Stealth?
We are going to release a split concept album called 'Wilderness of Mirrors' next November. We will share this 12 songs album with London based bands Die Kur, Maxdmyz and Sixis. We can't wait to listen to reactions of our fans and music industry as we have been working on this project for almost 3 years now and we recorded 3 new brand songs ready to be shared with our fans.
