Sounds like: Hard Rock/Punk
From: Australia

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?

I began writing songs at a young age and never stopped. At 18, I picked up a guitar and played relentlessly, laying the foundation for my musical journey. In 2020, I conceived the idea for Acended, and by 2021, we were ready to launch the band. Izaak Kracke joined that year, followed by Zach Paynter in 2024, and Kaylie Hudson completed our lineup in 2025. Our current roster—Tony Thompson (vocals and rhythm guitar), Izaak Kracke (vocals and bass), Zach Paynter (vocals and lead guitar), and Kaylie Hudson (drums)—collaborates to craft our sound. We blend our diverse influences, experimenting with each song to create a unique, evolving style.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We hope our music offers listeners a sense of release and escapism. Through our storytelling and songs, we aim to inspire those who feel they can’t fully embrace who they are or who they want to be, hopefully giving them armour and confidence.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Our sound is fluid, adapting to what each song demands, making it hard to pin down to one genre. Lyrically, we draw from the introspective storytelling of Bob Dylan and John Lennon, with influences ranging from Eminem to Frank Sinatra. Across the band, we love exploring all genres, experimenting with every project, and breaking free from traditional musical norms.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Oasis, Metallica, and Green Day.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

AI is most effective as a tool to enhance human creativity, not replace it. For example, Paul McCartney’s use of AI to isolate John Lennon’s vocals and George Harrison’s guitar parts for The Beatles’ Now and Then made an otherwise unusable demo listenable. This approach enriches the artistic experience without overshadowing the human element.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?

The Rock genre feels stagnant, lacking fresh energy and innovation.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in Australia?

The Australian music scene is on the rise, particularly on the east coast, which I believe is poised to become a global hub for artists, rivaling the influence of the United States.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

The royalty rates from streaming services are grossly inadequate, failing to reflect the immense passion, effort, and dedication artists invest in their craft.

9. What’s next for Acended?

We’re excited about releasing new songs, setting up a streaming setup for regular YouTube content, and booking numerous gigs. We’re also working on some surprises we’re keeping under wraps for now.

10. Any shoutouts?

A huge thank you to Peter Koppes, formerly of The Church, for his invaluable support, artistry, and friendship. We’re also deeply grateful to Vernon Connor, who recorded our tracks for free last year—a true hero whose help made our releases possible. Finally, a shoutout to everyone who has connected with and enjoyed our music.
