Sounds like: Black Metal
From: Virginia

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?

I started playing piano when I was little and then moved to guitar. I have always leaned towards music that steals my focus and is the center of attention. There is a lot of metal music that focuses solely on the craft of music composition that can strike a chord to the human soul with its attitude and skill. I like to incorporate immense raw emotion while maintaining a professional level of polish.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

The idea of being independent, thinking creatively, and expressing oneself and then bringing it back to the community to share and develop deep connections with others.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Melodic Black Metal with progressive (classical/jazz/punk) influences. Essentially adding aggressive technical beats to dark guitar tones that purr like a V8 engine.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Mayhem, Naglfar, and Napalm Death.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

I have no issues with using AI to help assist in the music process but not to completely create the art itself as I would no longer find it an art but an algorithm.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Black Metal?

I don't know if I am up to date on the most current black metal situation but I enjoy black metal because of the potential of variety that it has. So I like a genre to be able to evolve and adapt.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in Virginia?

I am from a small city in Virginia called Harrisonburg. Surprisingly there is a good metal scene where lots of great metal bands play and many more come through to tour.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

It is hard for the artist to be financially successful behind the people that run the industry. The true artist is focused on the art and may leave little room for financial gain.

9. What’s next for Winter Blood?

More album releases that focus on quality of composition and to improve every aspect of the band with each album release.

10. Any shoutouts?

Anyone who has supported this band, including past band members and current collaborators.
