From: Texas
Sounds like: Christian Metal
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?
I got started with music because of my dad. He was a drummer in band and got me and my brother into rock and roll. We listened to different types of music growing up, but metal just stuck. I wanted to get into heavier bands in middle school and then eventually only listened to heavier bands in high school for a while. I grew up listening to Underoath and As I Lay Dying, as well as Blessthefall, Disciple, and Wolves, At The Gate. I started writing songs when I was 14 and eventually wrote my first album lyric-wise the same year. Ever since then, I always felt I had a passion for music and sharing the message of hope with people. I felt like I was called at a very young age of 13-14 years to start writing songs. I have a vision for this band since I was in 8th grade. These songs just started coming to me. Of course I am constantly trying to improve the perspective of the message.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
I want to move people with the message and the music of course. I want people to be pricked in the heart with conviction or moved to in some way by the music.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
I would say it’s Christian Progressive Metalcore or Gospel Metal or Life Metal.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Wolves At The Gate, I See Stars, If Not For Me, and Wage War.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
I honestly think AI has its place for memes and what not but it really shouldn’t be used to create music. Or at least.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Christian Metal?
I think Christian Metal is growing and getting better all the time! I think Christian Metal should heavy and intense after all, the message of Christ is pretty metal.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Texas?
We booked so many new bands this year and managed to bring in some new bands in San Antonio as well as Austin, TX.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
I think streaming platforms should really pay artists what they are worth. I think a few cents for stream is totally reasonable. Having to have millions of streams just to get paid is just ridiculous considering what it costs to be a musician.
9. What’s next for Forgiven You?
Currently about to take multiple singles to the studio, we should have some new merch at the end of this year as well. We want to play some more shows up in Dallas and possibly Houston. With everyone’s schedule, it’s a little hard to tour, but we want to do something small tours in 2026!
10. Any shoutouts?
