1. What's new with Reap the Light?

Gary: Good question. We had to take a slight break due to some family issues, but we’re back in the saddle. Each member also has additional projects, so keeping everything in balance can be challenging.

2. What do you want listeners to take away from the new music?

Melani: Mainly the powerful message behind each song, which I believe is perfectly conveyed by every single instrument.

Gary: That we are trying to create music with some diversity, and that you don’t hear the same thing with every song. We hope each song is a new journey and a discovery of how we are telling the story of the Seven Deadly Sins.

3. How does the writing process go with the band?

Nicole: Gary is our main songwriter. I usually receive his demos and work on his ideas, adding my own touch and some details.

Melani: As for the vocal melodies, I compose them according to what the songs spark in me. I sometimes slightly modified the lyrics to better align with the melodies' phrasing.

4. What have you been listening to lately?

Nicole: Earthside, Escalandrum, Chick Corea, Dream Theater.

Melani: Gojira, Tool, King Diamond, Almafuerte.

Gary: Anterior, Killswitch Engage, Godsmack, Orbit Culture.

5. What inspired you to theme the album around the seven deadly sins?

Gary: As with many great bands (not saying we are, but as an inspiration for us), a concept album is something that can be a big hit or a big miss. Regardless, it is challenging in its own right, but the rewards can be great if you tell a good story. One of the best concept albums of all time is Queensryche: Operation Mindcrime. That album so inspired me in the early 90’s, that it has always stayed in my mind to do a concept album. Enter, The Seven Deadly Sins!

6. What's one thing you'd change about the local music scene?

Melani: In my city, Rosario, Argentina, I would like more places where metal can be played live.

Gary: I live near Washington, DC, and there are plenty of venues to play live music; the only issue is that metal is not as popular as it once was, which is a shame. I would like metal to be more widely shared and more mainstream, as it was in the 80’s.

7. What's your favorite track that you've released so far?

Nicole: Lust

Melani: Lust

Gary: Wages of War (Greed)

8. Any plans for anymore music videos?

Gary: Oh yeah. Every song gets a video, even if it is just a visual-lyric video.

9. What do you wish to accomplish for the rest of the year?

Melani: Finishing the last touches of the upcoming album so that next year our followers can finally enjoy it!

Gary: Finally, release our album for our fans. We already have a couple of new songs in progress for our next venture.
