Sounds like: Thrash Metal
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?
We started listening to metal in the early 90s. We were four teenage dudes, starting to grow into the scene, starting to grow our hairs and then decided to start a band. In the beginning that must have sounded terrible. We had help from a teacher at our high school and had rehearsals there. Later we found another rehearsal room and practiced a lot. Our style was a kind of raw Death Metal, but over the years there were more and more Thrash parts and a good dose of groove. Our influences are all kind of metal genres.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
We‘d like the people to feel the anger and rage the music and the lyrics contain. There is so much bullsh** in the world we live in, you must be angry when you look at it. Our music is some kind of valve for this anger. On the other hand, we don‘t take ourselves to seriously and have a good time on stage.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
We try to put some groove into Thrash Metal, garnished with some Death Metal vocals. There is few speeds, but a 10-ton-hammer coming down.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Of course everone in the band has a lot of favorites. Depending to our kind of music, we would love to support bands like Benediction, Pro-Pain or Testament. (Although we know well, we aren‘t professional enough to earn that slot).
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
Nobody needs that bullsh**! Especially in the metal scene we have so many very cool bands from all over the world, bringing old and new sounds, combining or creating all kinds of heavy sounds to unbelievable records. There‘s simply no need for AI generated music and we will never support that.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Thrash Metal?
Thrash Metal has a revival over the past few yrears and we don‘t see an ending to this trend. We always loved the heroes and the new gems of this genre and we think there‘s a lot to come. The energy of Thrash is addictive.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Germany?
The metal scene in Germany has always been active, even in the late 90ies, when some people said Metal was dead. It never was. We have plenty of cool rock and metal venues, lot of touring going on, a lot of bands from here and bands who like to visit our cities. Maybe the Germans aren‘t as enthusiastic (during concerts) as fans are in some other places - but they are absolutely loyal.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
We think only the big pop/rap artists get noteworthy credits with this system. Nevertheless we offer our music on all platforms to be available in countries we won‘t reach with our CD. And it‘s useful to stream the music whereever you go.
9. What’s next for Servator?
We try to promote our album as good as we can, because we believe it‘s a good record and maybe there are some maniacs out there who could like it. In the near future our new lyric video of "The Invocator" will be available on Youtube. We are no semi professional band, so not touring outside of Germany is planned (nor possible to be honest). We are happy to get feedback from all over the world. After some local gigs we will begin to write new songs. But as we all have families and full time jobs and don‘t live in the same city, it will take some time.
10. Any shoutouts?
Thanx to all the metal addicts and all ther maniacs all over the world for any support and any feedback! We appreciate it very much! Thrash on!!
