From: Texas
Sounds like: Death Metal

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?

The band was formed back in October 2014, after founding member Chris (Desoto) left his previous band. The band sound was developed over the years drawing inspiration from multiple genres.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We want people to feel the passion and energy we put into our music. Our lyrics convey the dichotomous nature of the political and spiritual issues alive in the world todays.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

A contradiction, where dark heavy riffs meet beautiful motifs leads and harmonies.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Dethklok, Meshuggah, and The Black Dahlia Murder.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

It lacks soul in our opinion, we tried it once to see what we got wasn’t to our likings.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Death Metal?

We definitely feel like it’s having a resurgence, more Death Metal acts are popping. Melodic/Brutal/Technical we love it and are eager to hear younger bands!

7. What’s the current music scene like there in Texas?

It’s tough if we are being completely honest, but we managed to make an impact and made great friends be it other bands or amazing promoters!

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

It’s a strange thing because we all want to get paid for the work we put into our music. However the ways royalties are handled or distributed make it tough to actually profit. With Artificial Intelligence becoming popular some people or companies are using it to make bands which ruins a lot for independent artists.

9. What’s next for Thrawn?

We are currently recording our debut album “Pariah” playing shows around town and hopefully setting up a tour around Texas to promote our album.

10. Any shoutouts?

Voltreus, Scars of the Flesh, Obsydium, Mike Lucero (Krunch Kabs).
