1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?

Personally I have always sang as a child, around the house and at family parties, showcasing myself and usually showing off!! singing was my favourite pastime, it wasn't until later that I knew i could do something meaningful with my voice. I joined my first band when I was 21, then joined a few others before finding Neil. I put an advert up in a rehearsal studio Vocalist/Writer looking to join a band and the rest is history. Neil had been in several bands from a young age, until he brought a band together called Butterhook and sought me out. We remained Butterhook for many years, gigging and writing together until we had a break for many years. Neil and I got together again 2 years ago and since then have changed the line up adding new members, writing new material and renaming ourselfs Killer Smile.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We would like people to fall in love with the catchy guitars and vocal melodies, and get hooked on the story lines. We want to be that artist that gets stuck in your head, a song you can't stop singing, a hook that brings you back to us time and time again and feel the energy of the songs that we have passionately written.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

We are an alternative Rock Pop band, some songs more rock, some songs more pop and it's hard to define us into a certain genre of music but that's a good start. We are very melodic, with strong vocal melodies, guitar solos with bass bursting through, leading to higher energy endings that bring the songs to their natural endings. We have written relatable music pulling from life's adventures but not harsh to the ears.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Hard question as we each have different opinions on that haha, I would say Nothing But Thieves and Twin Adlantic, I just love their songs and energy that like ours is so relatable. Neil would say Sting/Police , no explanation needed he/they are legends.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

AI can have its uses particularly when mixing music but using it to create music without the organic growth from artist and musician really is concerning. I think there is a time and place for it to be used as a tool to assist, but unfortunately fully produced AI songs have already taken their place on streaming platforms removing the human form artists, creators who write and produce from their heart and souls. For me it's much more satisfying knowing our songs are real and in their purest form.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?

I think over the years it has evolved and that's a good thing, there is room for everyone to slot into the genres and reach new audiences and for listeners to expand their musical tastes too. There is Soft Rock, Hard Rock, Rock Pop, Alternative Rock Pop and just Rock!! and I am ok with that.

7. What’s the current local music scene like there in the UK?

The Local Music Scene is busy, but it's really choked with independent artists all trying to get out there and showcase their music. There are some really good promoters out there that work with mainly unsigned bands to help get them exposure so it's about learning who is best to work with and how to get the best venues to play. We have done ok so far.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

As we are just embarking on this journey with streaming platforms only time will tell how we feel about it but what is recorded regarding streaming royalist splits doesn't seem advantageous to the artists. We would just like to generate more money to reinvest in our music progression.

9. What’s next for Killer Smile?

We are releasing our First Single on the 5th of June 2026, Called Easy to Stay and we are working on a graphics style video for this track too, we are so very excited. We are hoping to release a 2nd Single Called Provoked in Aug/Sept and get back in the studio recording more songs towards the end of the year. We are working on all our social media platforms to increase our exposure as a band and fight against the masses, haha. We have a new Drummer and he's settling in, once we have him up to speed, in July we hit the stage.

10. Any shoutouts?

B12 Entertainment have played a crucial role helping us get back out onto the gigging scene, they are incredible thank you. Riverside Recording Studio, Producers and Engineers did a phenomenal job on 2 of our tracks that are ready for release, thank you so much.
