Sounds like: Metal
From: Illinois
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?
King Hell began around 2020 with a vision. Our bassist, Wolf, began to write music for an unnamed project that would later become King Hell. After linking up with our drummer Jeremy and guitarist Rob the songs began to flesh out. Small lineup changes came with stylistic differences that melded into the sound King Hell produces today.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
We would love people to take away a sense of self. We play music for the hurt, downtrodden, insane, and generally unhappy, so for us, we want you to leave with a connection.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
We describe our sound as Death/Thrash/Groove. Pummeling riffage, metal beats and breakdowns, and all around chaos.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Personally three bands I would love to tour with would be Slipknot, Rammstein, and Type O Negative.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
AI generated is not music at all. It takes out all the creativity, blood, sweat, and tears that tit takes to truly create a piece of art.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?
Metal, like all forms of art, is very subjective. For us, it is as alive and well as it was in the 80s or 90s. There is such a great blend of bands out there making music for all tastes, and everyone of them is a part of our giant metal family.
7. What’s the current local music scene like there in Illinois?
Thriving! Every weekend there seems to be a show in and around the city of Chicago, and the fans ALWAYS turn out! Metal is alive and we'll here!
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
Highly in need of a serious rewrite. Musicians are the ones putting in the long hours, sleepless nights, and general torment of creation. Royalties are paid our at such a small percentage that it is almost unnoticed. We believe that the artist should be entitled to more for their efforts.
9. What’s next for King Hell?
King Hell is currently in the writing process for our next release. We plan on a full length LP in the near future with over 4 songs completed and more in the writing process. Until the release we will continue to play out our King Hell EP at as many shows as we can!
10. Any shoutouts?
Big shoutout to Mike with FTD Entertainment for taking us on!! And to the metal musicians everywhere, keep doin what you do!!!
