The band Anthology was formed in 2008. The main composer and guitarist Marián Gonda was responsible for the creation of Anthology, assisted by bassist Ján Kičin. They gradually added other talented musicians to their ranks until the first stable line-up was established, which resulted in the creation of the first album called Exitus (2011).
The band's line-up was as follows: Alexandra Hírešová – vocals, Marián Gonda – guitar, Miroslav Grman – guitar, Ján Kičin – bass guitar, Martin Solárik – keyboards, Peter Pleva – drums. The album "Exitus" already showed considerable potential at that time and the musical direction of the band – great melodies, nice-sounding guitar lines and rhythmic precision were a great promise for the coming years. Vladimír Povala took care of the sound. The album "Exitus" recorded its first successes in Slovakia and the band participated in several concerts and festivals.
After the initial success of the album "Existus", the band began writing new material. They had the ambition to break through abroad with the material. After an extremely difficult period and a number of personnel changes, between 2012 and 2013, bassist Ján Kičin left the band. He was replaced by Marek Štech. The most significant change came after the definitive departure of singer Alexandra, who was replaced in 2013 by the charming Raylyn Shayde. The following album The Prophecy (2014) clearly established the concept with which the band wanted to erase the image of a young, up-and-coming band. When recording "The Prophecy", it was made clear from the beginning that it would actually be a breakthrough album through which Anthology wanted to introduce a number of new elements into their work. The album was produced by Vladimír Povala and Michal Jankuliak (Eagleheart) . The world-famous ex-Helloween and main member of the band Masterplan, Roland Grapow , took charge of the mixing.

The album "The Prophecy" was a success since its release and quickly gained new fans and publicity that crossed the borders of Slovakia. Shortly after the album's release, Marek Štech (bass guitar) left the band and the band continued to perform with a new bass guitarist, Kristián Žilinec (live member). "The Prophecy" recorded partial success not only among domestic fans, but also in Japan, Denmark, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Latin American countries. Half a year after the release of this album, Anthology is among the accepted musical bodies in their native country in the sympho-power metal genre with the ambition to succeed not only in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
After the extremely successful album The Prophecy , the band Anthology decided to follow up on this success with new material. The collaboration with producers Michal Jankuliak and Vladimír Poval again proved to be excellent, and Roland Grapow sat down to mix the album again . The third studio album Angel's Revenge was released at the end of 2016. It is again in the spirit of symphonic metal, but with more aggressive elements that gave the record a new touch. The album also featured death metal vocalist from England, Connor Sanders.
After the album's release, Anthology began presenting Angel's Revenge with a new bassist, Martin Lofaj. The recording followed on from the success of the previous album and its sales grew, especially abroad. The band performed several concerts, in addition to Slovakia, mainly in the Czech Republic and Poland. The success of the album, and especially its title track "The Revenge of Angels", led the band to decide to support it by remastering the song with world-famous producer Joost van den Broek. The band filmed a video for the song and released it as a single.
In early 2019, the band performed in Athens, Greece. During the concert, the band changed their lineup - Miroslav Grman and Martin Lofaj swapped instruments.
2020 – The COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected the music scene, so Anthology decided to use their free time to write their next album. At the end of 2020, singer Raylyn Shayde left the band after 7 years. In the summer of 2021, a new singer from Greece – Lilian Anerousi – joined the band . With her cooperation, the band continues to record a new album.
