1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?
I was a pure Metallica fan during my teenage years at school. I discovered metal music with "...And Justice For All", or "Master of Puppets". He does not know that, but M. Hetfield has been my guitar teacher for severals years during hours of practice to try to play like him, with guitar sheets of their albums... Then I switched to Slayer and Kerry King with "Seasonsin The Abyss", right after "Black Album" ... lol! This is my main influences I would say. Gurvan and Micha has brought up some others moods and styles to our music: Grind, Black Metal or even Led Zep influences.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
Energy and power from fast and heavy riffs.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
I would say Old School Thrash style, with a touch of Punk some times maybe.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
In the early days of Lomor, we used to cover a Violator's song called "Death Descends (Upon This World)" during our shows. We really love their commitment in "Cooperation, not competition" attitude. This would be an honnor to tour with them. A tour with our friends from Akiavel (FR) would be pleasure too! Or Sadus (US) Yeah !!!!
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
Well this is a difficult theme regarding the wish of mankind to make always more things, easier, faster and its impacts on the planet or on societal aspects. About music, copyright infringement is clearly a huge problem. I don't know if a real and fair solution will be possible.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Thrash Metal?
This last decades, in my opinion, Thrash Metal was more oriented toward "festive" and "fun" music you know: beers, skates or surf with big parties by doing whatever crazy. I mean, this is cool and there is a lot of great and awesome bands doing it very very well. But for me, Thrash should be more or less darker. We try to bring more moods or atmospheres in our songs. Well I think.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in France?
Well, we live in Reunion Island, a french overseas territory (Indian Ocean), we have a distant look of the metal scene in France in Europe. But I think it is actually very active with a lot of festivals or good bands. To a certain extent, I would say the metal scene here in Reunion Island is quite active too but we really lake opportunities to play live. It is very diffucult for local bands here to do concerts despite several active bands like Kaldeira, Feed The Ire, Behind Our Reflections, Cyatik or Warfield.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
Well as the majority of little bands around the world: almost nothing. Streaming platforms are not all there to support artists. This is Sad ... but True. Nevertheless, some of theme are trying to be more fair, as Rokk or even Qobuz.
9. What’s next for Lomor?
The next real big challenge for Lomor is the booking side, french or abroad. We actively searching for a booker or a structure to develop this side of things wich is very important for the rest of the story.
10. Any shoutouts?
Go thrashing my friends! And as we say here in Reunion Creole: "Allé la!!!"
