The female fronted metalcore band Receiving Echoes based in Gerstetten South of Germany was inspired by the Wow! - Signal. Hard riffs, epic breakdowns with aggressive shouts, growls and melodic hooks.

1. What's new with Receiving Echoes?
Right now, we are about to release a new song. The mix & mastering should be ready soon so that we can release it before summer break. We’ve finished recording a new band video for this song. Here too, the video still needs to be edit. I think the release will be after the summer break. In general, we are working on new songs. We will be in the studio for this from September. We have new awesome material.
2. What's the word on new music?
We want to adjust our style a bit and make it a little more modern. We'll see :-)
3. How does the writing process go with the band?
As I said, we’re working on new songs for the studio from September. We will record six new songs. I think we are taking new paths and trying to present ourselves in a new and better way.
4. What have you been listening to lately?
Oh, that’s not so easy to say. We all have different musical tastes in the band. There is a wide range of music from Old School Metal, Party music, Hip Hop and Electro music to Deathcore.
5. Do you have any pre-show rituals before performing?
Nothing special, really. We retreat backstage together before the show and get ready. Before we go on stage, we share a team hug and energize each other.
6. What's one thing you'd change about the local music scene?
The local music scene has grown significantly, boasting some truly great bands and musicians. Unfortunately, there is a lack of opportunities here to play live in clubs and at festivals. Sadly, the relatively few available slots are dominated by just a small segment of the scene. A large number of excellent bands struggle to secure even 10 to 12 gigs a year. It’s a real shame. Of course, any band can release music on streaming platforms and try to get noticed—but everyone is doing that. Ultimately, the only bands that really advance are those with strong backing from the industry. That’s why it would be fantastic to have more live performance opportunities for smaller bands within the scene. It would also be great if more lesser-known bands were booked as support acts for live concerts.
7. What's your favorite show that you've played and why?
I think it was two years ago at the Wisdome Tooth Festival. It’s a small open-air festival in southern Germany—about 2,500 people. We played on the Baby Stage, and the crowd didn't know us. People were pretty skeptical during our intro, which was very heavy on the electronic elements. But once we kicked into a massive breakdown, things went absolutely wild. The crowd went crazy—for the whole show. It was awesome.
8. Any plans for any music videos?
Yes, we shot a video for a new song last month. It is currently being edited. I hope we can release the video after the summer break.
9. What do you wish to accomplish for the rest of the year?
We’ll head into the studio after the summer break to record new songs. In the meantime, we’ll play a few smaller shows. However, our goal is to have the new tracks fully recorded by the end of the year so we can really tear it up with them starting in January 2027.

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "Receiving Echoes" come about and is there any meaning to it?
After putting the activities of my previous band on hold, I have started a new concept on my own. I wanted a band name that had something to do with my personal interests. I was inspired by the WOW-Signal from 1977. I find the background to it extremely exciting. This then developed into the first song, which has the same name as the band, “Receiving Echoes.” It came about quite spontaneously; I connected the energy and intensity that can be felt in the song with the WOW Signal enthusiasm.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
They should be able to feel the energy with which we write our songs and play live. Rousing guitar riffs, hard breakdowns, and an incredible chorus. People should get into our songs and move with them.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
Female fronted Metalcore with intense screams and growls and sky shattering choruses.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Architects, Spiritbox, and Falling in Reverse.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
AI is an unstoppable development in all areas. We have to realize that in the future, AI will be indispensable—even in the arts. At some point, this art form will become established. But until then, we have our own handmade and self-composed music. We are very proud of that.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Metalcore?
I think the Metalcore scene is gaining momentum again. There are countless new releases. What's particularly interesting is that there are more and more collaborations and featurings between different artists. That's pretty cool. We'll be doing that too.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Germany?
There are now an incredible number of new and young bands. That's really great. Unfortunately, the opportunities to give new bands a live platform are somewhat limited here. That's a shame. There's a big difference between streaming platforms and a live performance.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
That's pretty bad. Yes, the platforms are selling our music, but the artists live their art and would like to be able to make a living from it—at least be better paid for it.
9. What’s next for Receiving Echoes?
New songs and live performances as much as possible.
