Sounds like: Instrumental Rock
From: Austria
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?
Although I grew up around music and guitars, I never learned a single thing. It was not until I was already 30 yeas old when I went to a Guitar Center in the USA and bought an electroacoustic guitar that I still have and play in concerts. I started learning songs from Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Pink Floyd, Silvio RodrÃguez and others using tabs. With the time, I started making my own ideas. The first songs I made are just acoustic guitar, very quiet music. I have like 140 pieces of this type of music published. Later on, I bought electric guitars and effects and started making music combining acoustic guitars with electric guitars and effects and making rock type songs, but not the commercial type music, rather something else. and I wanted it instrumental for no particular reason.
2. What do you want people to take away from your music?
Good feelings. sometimes sad feelings.
3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?
It is instrumental music, some songs are loud, some quiet.
4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?
Joe Satriani, Monkey3, Orbital Escape System.
5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?
My dayjob is in Data and AI. GenAI technologies and methods are simply great. I know people who are not musicians who use services like suno to generate songs. I do not use such services though, I can play instruments and create melodies without the aid of technologies.
6. What’s your take on the current state of Instrumental Rock?
There is a lot being continuosly released worldwide, you can read about it in sites like this one.
7. What’s the current music scene like there in Austria?
It is busy and diverse, from Austropop, Schlager, Opera, Jazz and Pop to all genres of Rock and Metal. We could always use a little more loud rock and metal.
8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?
I do not pay much attention to this topic. I think their business model works quite well for those companies. Spotify's operating income for 2025 was 406 million euros.
9. What’s next for Orbital Hotel?
More music!
10. Any shoutouts?
Thanks to all the listeners!
