Sounds like: Alternative Rock
From: Toronto, Canada

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound?

The music creation starts with me (Alex), I create the music and lyrics, some bass lines on some songs like "Garden of Chaos". I record them on my phone with an acoustic guitar. I send the music to the rest of the band, Luke - Drums, Erika - Bass guitar. Next jam/practice, we add instrumentals. Sometimes I get inspired changing the lyrics or music doing daily stuff, driving, taking a walk, whatever is on TV etc. For one of the songs that will be recorded Summer 2026, I was washing dishes at home and was trying to figure out another way to play an old song I created and came upon me, music, beat and how I'm going to sing it. Not kidding.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

To get inspired or lost in the music. Let the listener have their own interpretation of the song. Sing or dance listening to our music.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Some songs are Alternative Rock, Rock, Neo Gothic acoustic Reference track - ("I Am Not Human"). One track has a mix of Reggae, Rock, Ska. ("Garden of Chaos")

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Kiss (if they are still touring haha) I think they're not touring anymore. Motely Crue, Stone Temple Pilots, Big Wreck, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Tool, RHCP to name a few of those well established bands that like to have fun on stage and put on a great show.

5. What's your thoughts on AI generated music?

I don't like it. Real heart, soul and life experiences is what creates a good song. The story behind the song and music too.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Alternative Rock?

The Alt Rock/Rock scene seem to be cyclical. It's been awhile but now it's time for Alt Rock to be heard.

7. What’s the current local music scene like there in Canada?

Used to be a busy scene, but it's getting busy again.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

It's really BAD! 1 CENT per stream??? Spotify only pays the artist if one of their songs have over 1k streams?

9. What’s next for PaperCapGuns?

Tentative show on June 5th at Sneaky Dees in Toronto. Play more shows, festivals, NXNE, SXSW. Grind.

10. Any shoutouts?

To all the music lovers who listen, watch and send their love to the music we create. Thank you, we love you.
