1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Iridia” and is there any meaning behind it?

Every one of us have been into music our whole lives. It has always been a huge part of our being. The name Iridia actually came from our drummer's work. It was a multi functional tool that he used (The Iridia tool). From what I understand it was a pretty wicked little bastard. We see ourselves as a multi functioning unit. And just like a multi functional tool, without all the pieces, it would simply not work. Each member brings something unique to the table, and that is what ultimately creates Iridia's sound.

2. What do you want listeners to take away from your music?

To interpret it as they wish. If they like what is being played, and like the words being spoken, then, like us, our imagination soars, and we start to build a story that fits our current situation. That is what music is about. It does not mean the same thing to everyone. There is no real hidden meaning behind it, it's just simply people tapping into something greater than ourselves, writing what they feel at a certain moment in time, and then translating it into a sound.

3. What can people expect from your live show?

A night filled with unadulterated debauchery.

4. How has the response been to the "Cognition" album thus far? What's the word on new music? What's your favorite track to play live?

It has been humbling… seriously. New music is in the works and we're about to start tracking for our new album. We're hoping to have it finished in 2016. I think we love to just play live. No particular song holds more value than the next. We just enjoy sharing our music with those who choose to listen.

5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Too many to name, so we'll just say: All of them.

6. Any crazy show stories?

The very first show we played was at Echo reservoir, in Echo, Utah. Right before we were supposed to start playing, a huge storm came through and started raining on our gear, and the wind was tearing down the makeshift stage. We did manage to save everything, and the show went on, but it definitely is a show we'll always remember. And then, later that night, there was a bonfire, and a huge fight broke out. People went to jail, some lost teeth, it was nuts! Luckily, we were all back at camp being awesome when it all went down. No Iridians were harmed.

7. What’s your take on the current state of rock?

These people are chasing money, not dreams.

8. What’s the current music scene like there in Utah both locally and state wide?

It's actually very cool. We are close with a lot of local artists, and we support each other on a constant basis. Salt Lake City is a very tight knit community, and it seems that everyone knows everyone. So you could say we're all just one big psychotic family.

9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

If people like what we do so much that they're willing to steal it, our job is done.

10. What’s next for Iridia?

Predicting the future is a form of witchcraft.

11. Any shout outs?

To all of our family and friends that have supported our dream throughout the years, and of course our loyal fans. Without any of them, we would just be five guys making noise. Thank you.
