Smell My Pillow

Smell My Pillow (Rock) - Minnesota

"747" Single Review
The track begins with some rockin' high energy riffs and creates a throwback Rock sound in its delivery. The melodic vocals kick in and the listener is already hooked as the full speed ahead approach goes all out. The soaring chorus is catchy and easy to sing along to. An excellent guitar solo takes over after the chorus and before the second verse. The pacing of the track is outstanding and keeps things tight and interesting throughout the runtime. The two and a half minute mark switches things up and creates an even crunchier bridge that sets up the chorus. Another guitar solo comes in past the three minute mark and spreads its wings and rocks out to help close things out.

Verdict:
Smell My Pillow know how to rock out with their newest single.

-Interview- (8/1/25)
1. What's new with Smell My Pillow?

We have five new songs that we will debut at our next gig on August 16 and hopefully record in September or October. We will be paying homage to Ozzy with the song "Sweet Leaf" at the next gig.

2. How's the new music coming along and is there a release date for it?

I would say a release in January for singles and maybe enough for an album by fall 2026.

3. What can you tell us about inspiration for the new music?

The “zone” or place we all get into when in the practice space, looking at each other, hitting a drum or a chord on guitar or note on bass or Amy throwing out a topic or vibe. At that point, we are all standing on the cliff alone and afraid but once we all start contributing something, we have jumped off into the Blue Lagoon so to speak where everything slows down and flows.

4. What have you been listening to lately?

Slomosa and Sabbath.

5. Do you have any pre-show rituals before performing?

Saying hi to fans that I have not seen in a while and grabbing an Irish whiskey.

6. What's one thing you'd change about the local music scene?

More local independent Rock venues that do not have “cover” requirements. Promoting the essence of what independent art is and should be. I get the money making thing for venues for sure but what about investing six months of promotion and local grassroots stuff and inform the local musicians of their obligation to support and attend this venue supporting local Rock music?

7. What's your favorite show that you've played and why?

Ever or in the last 10 years? Six years ago at Palmers in South Minneapolis and probably 15 years ago at The Varsity Theatre in Dinkytown by the University of Minnesota.

8. Any plans for any new music videos?

Great question! We are hoping to shoot a video in the winter at a new studio in Shakopee, MN.

9. What do you wish to accomplish for the rest of the year?

Record four new songs and write 20 more good ones with the best Rock band ever - Smell My Pillow!!
