1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Veinduze" and is there any meaning behind it?

Phil and Kody have known each other for a very long time. They started out jamming at Kody’s parents' house in the 7th grade and playing around at local libraries, slowly overtime developing a strong bond for music. Playing in several bands together all owed them to experiment with different genres and sounds, while simultaneously crafting songs that would be utilized for upcoming Veinduze projects. With the new additions of Joe Kantymir on drums and Gavin Wilson on bass, the band has never felt more confident and solid as a unit sonically. (Phil) My dad told me a story of his great uncle that fought in WW1 with the French Canadian 22nd regiment. When they were shipped overseas to fight, they were met with their English allies who had a difficult time pronouncing the French term Vingt-Deux (22), so they called them the “Vindouze” and from that we got Veinduze.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We want people to take the idea of limitations away, that we are not sticking to one specific sound, idea, genre or message. Limiting yourself to only one idea prevents you from exploring what’s out there. We also want people to understand that there is no one specific way to interpret the meaning of our songs and that each track could mean something completely different for any individual.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Our sound is best described as Heavy roots and drums mixed with a blend of stoner/psychedelic driven guitar and passionate vocals.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

We're really looking forward to getting out on the road this summer and playing a bunch of shows. Our dream tour would be to get out on the road with local Toronto legends; Pup, Revive the rose, and The Fame. Just rent a van and tour the whole country!

5. What are your three desert island albums that you'd never get tired of listening to?

Three albums that we could listen to on repeat forever would be System of a down - Hypnotize, Nirvana – Bleach and Slipknot – all hope is gone. These albums were essential in the making of our debut EP and in the writing process of our new material.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Hard Rock/Metal?

Big changes happening. The way music is being obtained by the people has changed so much in the past few years with streaming, there aren’t any more rules that dictate that a band must find a record label and release a big fancy album. A lot of bands are doing everything on their own now so from this is bound to come to some crazy new sounds. We are very hopeful for the future of Hard Rock/Metal.

7. What’s the current music scene like there in Canada both locally and countrywide?

In terms of southern Ontario and the Greater Toronto Area, the music scene is making a huge comeback! Lots of crazy shows are happening all the time and we see new bands emerging all the time. Unfortunately, there is this eerie sense of competition that weighs over the scene. Branching out towards the east it seems that bands become more supportive of each other and will go out of their way to make sure they support even the smallest groups.

8. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

There’s really no way to stop people from downloading your music illegally if they really want to because it’s so easy. Relying only on music sales to support your band is just not possible in today's world, so artists will have to become more creative in the way they market their merchandise and make sure they are giving a product that their fans really want.

9. What’s next for Veinduze?

We’ve got lots of new material in the works so we will be heading into the studio to record soon. We’ll be playing a handful of wicked shows over the next couple months all over Canada and hopefully, we can get out to play the US sometime soon!
