1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Anger Overdose" and is there any meaning behind it?

Professionally, Überdosis has been at it since the ‘90s. Jack of all trades instrumentalist. After his unfortunate ejection from pro wrestling he needed to make money and “working the streets” wasn’t panning out. Zörn’s answers to questions like these will, and can, vary wildly. No one knows how old he is or where he’s from exactly. In fact its impossible to tell if he’s being honest or just delusional. For the sake of this interview lets just say he’s been at it off and on for a long long time. Regarding the name Anger Overdoes Zörn has been known to have quite the temper and seems to be in a constant state of “pissed off” at everything, so he just embraces the “overdose” of his angry emotions. It also didn’t hurt that the words Zörn and Überdosis translated from German are Anger Overdose respectively.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

According to Zörn the music is a vehicle for his eventual and inevitable world domination.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Angry. Eclectic. Eccentric. Groovy.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Rob Zombie, Pantera, Megadeth…..there are obvious issues with at least one of these but it would have been cool. Other than that the list is fairly large, you can’t really nail down just 3.

5. How has Covid affected what you do as a band?

We’ve survived several plagues and disease, so not a whole lot has changed. We will say it’s a helluva lot easier these days with all the technology. Back when Zörn was doing this in the beginning, they were basically playing to the dead rats they stood up on sticks in the fields when a disease sacked an area….Thats how Zörn described it anyway.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Industrial Metal?

Metal in general is definitely coming back into its own. But with Anger Overdose the hope is that we can inject a lot of extra juice into the system and really get the blood pumping out there. Especially with the independent scene.

7. What’s the current local music scene like there?

Very much in need of a local scene. As of this writing we are stuck in PA and NJ which has a booming cover band scene, but metal and rock originals are fighting to stay afloat. Just our opinion….

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

Good question. When we start even approaching that ballpark we will revisit this.

9. What’s next for Anger Overdose?

As of this writing we have an almost-complete set of recordings for a second full release, expanding content to include BTS videos, building the live show, and hoping to get out on the road a bit.

10. Any shoutouts?

Family and friends…..well….the descendants of the family and friends I guess….CM Carroll of Illusions of Grandeur for mixing/mastering our current releases, Chris Ford from Studio1213 for working on current and future releases, and Ambrose Souder and Rob Hagan and their families for handling our affairs. Letting us crash on their couches, and always posting bail when we need it. Zörn claims to thank no one however and refers to Rob and Ambrose as morons.
