-Interview- From Broken To Blessed (8/4/12)

From Broken To Blessed
From: Austin, TX
Sounds like: Melodic metalcore

1. How did the band come together and form? Any special meaning behind the name “From Broken To Blessed”?

Four out of the five of us were in a band together previously and we didn’t like the way things were going so we decided to break off and form this new band. The band name came from us feeling like we weren’t getting anywhere with our old band and us finally sounding how we wanted, doing what we wanted to do with this new band.

2. You guys recently had a show alongside In Defense Of The Depths and Everyone Dies In Utah, how did it go?

It went pretty good. We always love playing with our dudes in IDOD and we had their vocalist Cody do guest vocals for one of our songs. It was also pretty cool playing along with a more known band like Everyone Dies In Utah.

3. How has the response been to the new single “Found”? When can we expect the EP?

The response has been great. We weren’t sure how people would react to it but it’s been very encouraging for us to know that so many people like it. Our upcoming EP entitled “Fire Of My Hate” is set to be released in mid-August.

4. How would you describe your music to the average listener?

We don’t really have a set sound yet but we like to experiment with a wide range of different sounds. Our lyrics are very passionate and have a lot of hate in them because we’ve been through a lot in the early stages of our band.

5. What’s the music scene like there in TX both locally and state wide?

It has been getting better with the uprising of better and better local bands and everyone is very friendly and willing to help out other bands here.

6. What’s your definition of a good live show?

The crowd having as much fun as we do when we play, singing along, and just going crazy enjoying the music.

7. What are you guys currently listening to?

I, The Breather, Motionless In White, Memphis May Fire, and Miss May I.

8. What’s your take on the current state of metalcore?

The genre is increasing with popularity but becoming a little generic in some spots so we are trying to break out of the norm and give people a newer side of it to enjoy.

9. What three bands would you love to tour with?

In Defense Of The Depths, Miss May I, and Metallica

10. What’s next for From Broken To Blessed?

The release of our EP, writing some new material for a full-length album to be released next Summer/Fall, and possibly a Punk Goes Pop style cover song.

11. Any shoutouts?

To our bros In Defense Of The Depths for sure!
