From: Italy
Sounds like: Metal

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Lonerider Death" and is there any meaning behind it?

Lonerider Death get started as a solo artist project by DeathSparrow (Ale Parro). He's always been playing metal, hardcore music genres in italian and english language, but during his experience there have been a lot of contaminations. Always with street music sounds as rap, punk, electronic music... And that's the background of Lonerider Death. We love being metal and hybrid, and some of us come also from other music scenes of our town in Italy. The name initially was "The Lonerider". The one man band at the beginning was called this way, then Ale felt like dead, full of rage after some injuries and troubles, so "the Death started to ride lonely". Hollowness and Merisio have received this legacy and its meaning getting into the band.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We want people to be more aware of reality, using their imagination and their mind. Society is corrupted by some bastards that enslave the men and the women with fake ideologies. Kids and young generations grow with no dreams, killing their ideas or their energy in front of a screen. Or doing what the director tell them at work cause "this is the way to let work the world". Well the world doesn't need to work, it turns the same. We'd love to see the people screaming, running mad, expressing themselves without caring to be clean or socially appropriated. But always with respect of who and what's around.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

It's honestly direct. It's simple. It's metal. We hope it brings air through the personal darkness and bullshits.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Every kind of project by Devin Townsend, Ramstein... (Ale) I'd like to open to or share the stage with one of the most important hardcore italian band, that has involved me to play: Skruigners.

5. How has Covid affected what you do as a band?

Lonerider Death has born as project and as a band during all these restrictions. Some of us have also lived some crazy social unjustices during the covid period, so this motivates Lonerider Death to scream more, play more, let our voice be heard more... cause every year more in our age (we aren't young kids anymore) we are more aware that a lot of things in the social sistems suck, past and present, and the way we can tell this and say fuck is playing metal.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?

We don't think about the others cause everyone is a single different world, and the different bands the same. Everyone has got the chance to be the owner of his or her life, if you don't get it it's not a Lonerider Death's business .

7. What’s the current music scene like there in Italy?

Some are involved in getting the scene back to a golden age but probably it's not useful. Things happen by themselves if you don't keep control at every cost and just do what you really want. The scene has changed so many times also town by town, it's impossible to get a constant direction. But when you are on the wave it's beautiful and great been there with all the other people like you. In this period probably the younger ones should get a bit less conditioned and a bit more moshing. But there isn't an absolute solution: probably the most important thing to do is keeping all the poisons like bad vibes, bad emotions, feelings or thoughts far from the music and from who's around it.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

We don't care so much about it. We come from underground and Lonerider Death wants to play in freedom. The rights of the musicians are a good thing, but we aren't Metallica or any other mainstream band and now we don't think about this. We just love to see the people kicking, going crazy, raising hell listening to music on stage or down stage.

9. What’s next for Lonerider Death?

We are completing the band lineup, soon we'll revelate the name of the new entries and this is meaning also a kind of new sound, always in metal. And soon some new releases about the songs we've already written together, with the new band lineup. Then videos, after the end of the lockdown live shows... all this beautiful things for a rock or metal band.

10. Any shoutouts?

We can't, cause we don't know exactly (LOL) we live day by day!... By the way, we are releasing some other videos from the first album "The lonely ride" because we really love videomaking and we make this DIY. But then we will be back in studio to record the new songs, and probably some of them will have also some electronic instruments. Lonerider Death play metal, but love contaminations, low basses and sinth frequencies. Stay free and fuck work.
