Sounds like: Rock/Metal

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name "Izamanya" and is there any meaning behind it?

In the past Iza and Many worked on some projects for other artists. In 2016 we decided to write some new songs together to realize a 4 track EP. We decided to lend the complete focus to this project and realized during this time that our collaboration works very well. So everything took its course and we produced our first CD "Second life" in our own studio. The name IZAMANYA is composed of our two names IZA and MANY (A) - so the brand as it is now "IZAMANYA" was born.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We give the people the best possible groove we have. A positively charged feeling and a clearly defined female-fronted rock, which will never be played fake. We've developed our sound during the last 5 years with "Second life" & "Next" to what it is today and we will continue to work on it to stay authentic and concrete.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

IZAMANYA is a female fronted rock/metal band with clear guitar riffs edgy voice a lot of groove and melody and of course loaded with all the small and big details that are expected as a fan of a metal band. We're - like all bands in the world too - looking for the killer song. We're still searching, hope it will be on the next CD, who knows.... in any case it is important to us, always having the opportunity to create unique Izamanya songs, to work on them and being satisfied with our lives and careers. Not meant only materially, but inner peace and satisfaction are very important.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

That's a difficult question, these days it's definitely a privilege as a newcomer band to be able to go on tour with any bands at all - we think it should be the best package for all parties. In the end we will support the band we deserve.

5. How has Covid affected what you do?

We definitely didn't bury our heads in the sand –this “messy” time basically gave us the chance to work much more intensively on our new songs for the upcoming album(s) "SUCTION", also a vinyl LP is planned, called: "MASSIVE" – we were always focused on writing the best IZAMANYA songs. All this brought our hearts and minds together even more.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Metal?

Metal doesn't seem to be as clear-cut as it used to be. That's good - because metal music has become very diverse anyway and has mixed with other genres. There are a lot of great known and unknown artists …the scene is growing again and there are also very young people who have fallen for Metal.

7. What's the current music scene like there in Switzerland?

We have many amateur bands in Switzerland. The Swiss man rarely dares to put all his eggs in one basket, which is absolutely necessary to make a living with music. Of course it is a privilege if you can sell enough music to be able to live from it. Fortunately, we can already do that, but we also have to stay fully focused on the pulse of rock n roll and see setbacks as opportunities.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

Yes...that is also difficult...less and less CDs are sold .... and what money comes in is not even enough for a Servela (Swiss sausage) :-D ...working like a dog and get paid with coins.

9. What's next for Izamanya?

At the time, we are working in the Studio on our next production. More grit, more music, more of everything - but definitely IZAMANYA – Female fronted Rock! Gonna release some new music soon.

10. Any shoutouts?

We are excited to see what the Rock n Roll circus has in store for IZAMANYA. We give everything we have and are very much looking forward to it.
