1. You’ve been doing music for awhile now, what can people expect from your new material? How hard is it to do music while overseas in the military?

Well from my new material, I would say it’s alot more mature than my older material. Ive grown to like A LOT more music than what I started listening to 4 years ago when I brought A Fallen Dream to life haha. Its definitely a lot more personal too. Overseas I would say its a lot harder to upload my music and keep my listeners up to date sometimes. Internet is so slow. I had to get a guy running a netlabel I’m on to upload the album art and the new song “Lotus” for me because the ships interent just wasn’t allowing me to do what I want. Making music though...has come somewhat easier to me. Before I was rushing myself to try and meet this “imaginary” deadline I had set for myself and some of the music I was putting out I didn’t like. On this deployment, I’m pacing myself and there are days where I’ve just had a bad day and need to play the guitar or come up with something and the song comes out great.

2. How many songs are you looking to have on the upcoming album? Have you gotten a release date/title in mind? I’m shooting for 12-13. Something different than what I’ve done in the past.

For the new full length I decided to call it Second Wind because I feel like I’m having a second chance at giving my music my full attention its almost as like being reborn. I wanted to somewhat start over and give A Fallen Dream a new look and have the music feel different but also the listeners would be able to tell its still my work. Also at home and before the deployment I was going through personal issues, somewhat depressed, not making music as much and I felt like I wasn’t myself which also reflected on my music. For the release date I don’t have one yet. My deployment got extended again haha.I still have to other production work to do as well. And ALSO I might possibly have vocalist besides myself. Not set yet though.

3. How would you describe your music to the average listener?

Progressive influences Between the Buried and Me to Post-rock Explosions In the Sky and This Will Destroy You. I want the audience to enjoy a bit of everything. I listen to Trip-Hop, Ambient, Death Metal, Hip Hop, Progressive Metal, Electronic music ALL of it! And I want people to recognize it in the music. I collect influneces from just about anything.

4. What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your music?

That they just listened to something that someone truly poured their heart into. This full length will be my first personal release, I have some upbeat songs and I also have songs that are a bit more down tempo than the previous because they reflect my mood. I’ve always had theme to each one of my releases and I hope that once I release Second Wind that the listeners will have an idea of what I was feeling through the music I created.

5. When are you looking to play shows again? What can people expect from your live show?

The last time I played a show was at a friends Halloween party, I had played a few songs and then “DJ”ed with the music on my itunes (I have so much music haha) and before that was with my old band Sweeney Tod in high school. Its been years since I’ve played a legit show. But I ache to be back onstage and let people enjoy my music live. A Fallen Dream show expectations....Hopefully with some practice I want people to walk out of venues saying “Wow that band was amazing, something different than what I expected” I want my shows to be something that listeners can’t stop talking about. That’s my personal goal.

6. What’s your take on the music scene nowadays?

Personally I feel I can’t say much about in my local area. I’ve been a solo act with some members in and out for like 4 years now. So I’m not so much in the loop as I use to be. There a few bands that I have favorited in my area and looking forward to hearing their new work. I’m not sure if its me or its actually happening but sometimes I do here recycled stuff alot. Every now and then I come across bands that I absolutely love that aren’t signed and wondering to myself “Why aren’t you signed? I’m waiting for a full length!”

7. What’s your take on illegal music downloading?

Everyone’s done it. I feel bad about it. But I seriously can’t wait for new music to come out all the time so when I see something from a band that I like thats out earlier than the release date I tend to download it, then when it comes out I purchase it. These days alot of bands get their money from shows and merch and everything else. I’ve always distributed my music for free and I’m sure that when I do decide to charge my listeners for my music that my music will be downloaded illegaly as well, however I don’t agree with people downloading others bands stuff then selling at their own expense. Illegeal music downloading will unfortunately always be around though.

8. Who are three artists you’d love to tour with?

DEFTONES cant get enough of those guys, Incubus, and Misery Signals.

9. What are you currently listening to?

Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Elitist, Minus the Bear, Deftones, Glass Cloud, BTBAM, Cynic, Trifonic.

10. What’s next for A Fallen Dream?

I hope to look for more band members. Its a weird situation right now. I’m trying to separate the Navy so I can focus full time on music full time. I plan to move to Orlando, FL and go to Full Sail University within the next year and I don’t want to look for members in VA when I’m going to FL (don’t want to waste anyones time) I want to live that dream of being a musicians and doing what you love. Nowadays I’m glad that I make music under the name A Fallen Dream because I don’t want my music to be A Fallen Dream and its a constant reminder that I should do what I love.

11. Any shoutouts?

Justin and Alex from Kitty On Fire Records, Brandon Casto from War Torn Angel, Zachary Wayne Norman from Beyond Our Eyes all of my fans that have been with me since my first netlabel release Two Sides To Every Brain and the new ones I’ve met along the way. And all of the promotion pages I’ve posted on that have shared my music. :D

The first track "WTF" has a Naked Gun sample in the beginning and serves as an intro with a pop/punk influenced breakdown controlling the whole song. The second track "Someone Like You" is extremely catchy and a good opening song to the album. It captivates the listener with its overall catchiness. "All My Life" opens with a guitar riff that builds up to the upbeat breakdown which almost brings to mind a pop punk version of Killswitch Engage's "The End Of Heartache". "If You're Not First, You're Last" is their first single and starts with a breakdown and guitar riff that is sure to get your head bobbing. The song is about being rebellious towards your significant others problems and so you just want to go out to have a good time to forget about her. Overall very good track. "Meet Me On Deathridge" kicks things back into gear with a fast tempo punkier rhythm. The chorus needs to be speedy so it can keep up with the overall pace of the song. The breakdown mixes things up and slows things down a bit. "We Think We're Doing Fine" keeps the high pace going but also keeps the quality tracks coming with gang chants, breakdowns, and pop punk at its finest.

The seventh song "Time & Time Again" has an awesome riff and drums that will get your head comparable to a bobble head doll. The breakdown halfway in the song is a surprise as its a tad heavier than expected. "Represent As One" will have you drumming along as it has music video written all over it. "The Night Is Young" could be a little stronger as it just feels a little tacked on. "Another Wasted" gets things moving again with the traditional All We Are formula and actually has a bridge that sounds like a sped up version of the verses to the Buggles classic "Video Killed The Radio Star". "Here We Go Again" is an acoustic song and seems more personal and relate-able to the listener. The closer "We Are, We All, We Are" is a good ending track and shows their style perfectly. It closes a debut full length album that should be enjoyed by any fan of pop punk.

Verdict:
If you like quality pop punk like New Found Glory, Four Year Strong or Fall Out Boy, All We Are is right up your alley. This full length album is 12 songs of awesome pop punk that is rarely seen on a debut album.

Standout Tracks-
"If You're Not First, You're Last"
"Represent As One"

1. How did the name City Of The Weak come from? Who thought of it? Does it mean anything in particular?

We had been agonizing for months over a name, came up with a lot of leads, but they all failed. Stef, the lead vocalist texted Ricky, the drummer one night with 'Conquer the City' and 'Day of the Weak' and Stef received a text back 'City of the Weak'. We went between the ideas of 'Taking the Saint' and 'City of the Weak' for a couple days until we got a show thrown at us, and we needed one right then and there. So we went with 'City of the Weak'.

Each of us alone are strong musicians, but on our own there's not a lot we can do. Together, we form a strong connection and musical bond that cannot be broken, changed, or replicated. Even though alone we are weak, together we are strong. We are a City of the Weak.

2. How would you describe your music to the average listener?

Eclectic grab bag of high energy rock. We range from punk to alternative to heavy rock to indie to punkcore. We each have our own set of influences, ranging from Blink-182 to August Burns Red to A Day to Remember to Paramore and everything in between. When we come together, there's not one genre you could possibly associate us with.

3. What’s your favorite track to perform live and why?

Stef - "Amateur Night VIP" because the song just tells a really deep, dark story in kind of a metaphorical fashion. I can really connect with the audience on it.

Jackson - "Better Than This" because the harmonies are so tangible and tight.

Taime - "White Fire Alarm" because it's a solid, well-written song with a message behind it. It could easily have crowd participation, and is just a great song to listen to.

Rory - "The Difference Between You and Me Is…" because the overall rhythm and flow of the song kicks ass as well as the transitions that drive it home.

Ricky - "The Difference Between You and Me Is..." because it's longer, has a dramatic change, and is overall sick to the max, yo.

4. What’s the music scene like there in Minnesota?

Plentiful around the twin cities. There's tons of music going on all the time of every style. It has it's advantages and disadvantages to up-and-coming artists like us.

5. What can people expect from the upcoming EP? Do you guys have a release date in mind?

Ballsy in-your-face lyrics & great music! We do not have a release date, hopefully by October we will have a five song, well-produced EP. Finding good producers is hard!

6. With having a female singer, do you think it has an automatic judgement on people or changes their perception of the band?

People's judgment goes from them saying 'Wow, they have awesome music!' to 'Wow, she's hot'! We feel like it's an advantage for sure, because it draws in the guys, and girls really look up to her as a strong, independent female role.

7. What are you guys currently listening to?

Stef - A Day to Remember, Pierce the Veil, Sleeping With Sirens, Panic! at the Disco

Jackson - Boy Hits Car, Muse, old Linkin Park, The Dear Tracks

Taime - We Came As Romans, Brokencyde, Oh Sleeper

Rory - Disturbed, 5 Finger Death Punch, Volbeat

Ricky - A Verse Unsung, August Burns Red, Fall of Troy, Circa Survive

8. What can people expect from your live show?

High energy times ten, lots of stage antics, guyliner, big hair, unique style, crowd interaction, piercings, tattoos, and a nipple or two.

9. What’s your take on illegal/legal music downloading?

Stef & Jackson - Some artists intend to have their music downloaded for free. At the beginning of your career, your music should be accessible for free. Once you get to a certain point as an artist, it's important that you should be making money and people should be paying for your music.

Taime - People work hard to make their music, we should support the artist if at all possible. I would definitely prefer that people buy our music.

Rory - People will always find a way to get music for free. Bands should understand the current situation our business is in and rely on their live performances and improved merchandise to make money.

Ricky - It would be great if people got paid, but you can't fight what's happening. Not too worried about it.

10. What’s next for City Of The Weak?

WE WANT A TOUR!!!!!!! For sure!!! And definitely more, better recordings!

11. Any shoutouts?

As a Band: inIre, all of our awesome fans

Stef Huschka: Jesus, Brett Manning - you taught me how to sing, Rachel Holder, Steve Cole - your advice inspired me to just go for it, Josh Schneider - you worked your ass off accompanying me, you came to every show, and you believed in my career
