Sounds like: Rap

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “King Tw!tch" and is there any meaning behind it?

My mother was a southern rock and country singer growing up and my father listened to a lot of classic rock. I eventually discovered Metal and Rap and both spoke to me. The first thing I wrote was a rap song, but I began to write both and stuck with it. I took the name Tw!tch to turn a twitch I was bullied for from a negative thing into a positive thing and I added the title King because I am equally skilled in 4 different areas.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

I want people to take away from my music the message that they are not beneath or less than anyone, that they can take control of their own life and be whatever they want to be, and that there's something better than spending forty years trading your day for a paycheck and making another persons dream happen.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

My sound is a blend of Eminem and Tech Nine with rapid-fire lyrics and melodic rhythms.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Brodnax, Yelawolf, and GAWNE.

5. How has Covid affected what you do as a band?

It hasn't really affected anything except giving me more time at home to work on music.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Rap?

I think there are way too many mumble rappers rapping about the same things and perpetuating a drug addicted, criminal lifestyle. I think rap really needs more intelligent lyricists.

7. What’s the current music scene like locally there in Kentucky?

There is a decent Metal scene, but there isn't really a scene for Rap. Not where I live anyway.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

Without the artist, there would be no reason for the streaming service. I feel like streaming services flood your stream with ads to get more ad revenue, then pay artists as little as they can get away with. Artists really need to be paid more. You shouldn't have to have a side hustle until you're in your 40's.

9. What’s next for King Tw!tch?

I've got a new track called “Ain't the One” that will be out before Friday. I intend to book some live shows for the month of February and I am working on getting songs ready for an official EP.

10. Any shoutouts?

I would like to shout out my fiance Neshai Brown for sticking with me through all of this, being my coach and confidant, and believing in everything I could be. I would like to shout out the artists that came before me and made what I am trying to do a realistic possibility. I would like to shout out the fans of music everywhere that gives artists like me a reason to keep creating. I would like to shout out my parents and brother for their love and support. And I would like to shout out my band Strange Skies for all of their hard work and all of my friends for being there for me as well as From The Depths Ent. for taking me onto their roster.
