1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name "Aetheric Existence" and is there any meaning behind it?

Both of us started playing guitar when we were younger and it grew into our love for heavy and extreme music. Aetheris stuck with guitar and explored writing songs and Essentia switched around to keyboard and vocals and also explored writing songs. We both came together and formed Aetheric Existence. Originally it was both of us wanting to create black metal and decided Aetheric Existence was a name that described the kind of music we both wanted to create. It basically means Essence and Aether, the building blocks of existence itself.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

We want people to just enjoy the stories we tell or just enjoy the music itself. We are big fans of horror and try to portray that through our music. A lot of it is very dark both musically and lyrically but not over the top. We try to do it in a way that is inspired by classic literature and urban legends.

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Dark, brooding, eldritch, ancient, ethereal and mysterious.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Behemoth, Carach Angren & Septicflesh.

5. How has Covid affected what you do?

Not at all! We dont play out like yet so we were just hammering away at new songs the whole time! Worked good for us since we had even more time to put into Aetheric.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Black Metal?

Depends what you mean by black metal because everyone seems to have a different opinion on what black metal is haha! Theres a lot of great mostly underground black metal bands but we like the most is when bands take inspiration from or add little pieces of black metal into their music. Such as Septicflesh and Carach Angren. You could call them black metal but they are adding alot of other elements in there to change things up. When I hear black metal I think of early Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor, bands like that, but even those arent black metal anymore in 2022.

7. What's the current music scene like there in New Hampshire?

Lots of rock, country and singer songwriters! Most of the metal scene is in neighbouring Massachusetts and we plan on getting some members in the next few years and getting Aetheric to its full potential and further explore more local metal scenes.

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

It's pretty much shit honestly. You dont get anything really unless youre getting thousands of views a day and even then its not much. The issue is theres way too many artists, and media had to figure out a way to cut costs with CD printing and all that. Most listeners use streaming services on their phones anyways so most artists don't see much point in make CDs anymore sadly.

9. What’s next for Aetheric Existence?

What we got next is a remix/remaster of our first Self Titled album then we will be working hard on album 3! Also practising songs together and looking for members! We can play a whole set fine we just need a drummer at minimum
