RumLuck (Ska/Punk Rock) - Missouri

-Interview- (2/24/24)
1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? How did the name "RumLuck" come about and is there any meaning to it?

We've all have been into punk rock and playing in different bands since we were young. We kinda just took the sound of all of our favorite punk and ska bands that were our biggest influences, combined them and that's us!

It's really just a play on words. It was dumb luck that we ended up getting together and jammin with each other. There was also a lot of rum involved in that first jam session so we figured that was a cool enough name.

2. What do you want people to take away from your music?

Put down your politics, pick up your feet and skank to the beat!

3. How would you describe your sound to the average listener?

Punk rock with a lot of ska influences. To put it in terms for someone who only listens to the radio it's like If you took Green Day, The Offspring, Rancid and The Interrupters and they had a baby.

4. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Rancid, Authority Zero and any of the awesome local punk bands coming outta St. Louis right now.

5. How has Covid affected what you do?

It really hasn't musically since we just started playing together last year.

6. What’s your take on the current state of Ska/Punk Rock?

Its killer! There's so many different sub genres and bands from different countries playing it right now. I'd say its stronger than ever!

7. What’s the current music scene like there in Missouri?

There's so many good DIY spots, cool promoters and small venues that you don't have to get worried your gonna get screwed. Fuck pay to play!

8. What’s your take on the royalties that streaming services pay out to artists?

It's shit but its definitely a lot easier to get heard around the world. Gotta take the good and the bad.

9. What’s next for RumLuck?

Bigger shows/festivals, recording new music, a music video, mini tours. Just trying to get our music out to as many people as possible!

10. Any shoutouts?

Gabe Usery at Encapsulated studios for making us sound so good, all the local bands we've played with and supported us and our girlfriends/wifes for putting up with our shit.
